This story is a sequel to A Pony's Sympathy
Following Discord's last escape from stone [as seen in A Pony's Sympathy], Twilight Sparkle sought to understand his role in the keeping of Balance in Equestria
Her want to understand sparked an alliance of sorts, a kind of understanding between them. Although having one pony in his corner has done little to convince the rest.
His lack of empathy and understanding of a pony's sensibility has been tolerated by Celestia.
But while both the princesses and the bearers of the Elements of Harmony struggle with even more dire problems, Discord is forced into a lesson of his own, and it could not have come at a more inopportune time.
Continuing the story of A Pony's Sympathy, the fledgling friendship between the Spirit of Chaos and the Element of Magic may determine the fate of the ponies, and the way both sides of harmony regard one another.
[Written/published between Nov. 2012 and Nov. 2013, based loosely on Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 3x13 'Deja Q']

I do hope you all enjoy this, because it will be a bit before the next chapter. The entire story was partially inspired by a certain episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation of which I paraphrased the title.

Thanks to my new pre-reader for the title, the line is from Swept Inside, by Future Islands. It's not in the 'theme playlist' I had, but I was really hard-pressed to find a title for this chapter this time around.
A good chunk of this was scaled down from its NaNoWriMo beginings, and both RBT and I were crushed that we had to change so much of that second scene with Discord and Spike. We think now that it fits better with where it goes in the timeline, but it was pretty fun before. With hope some discarded part of it can be re-purposed later.

Hey guys... um, remember when I said that this story was partially-based on the Star Trek tNG episode of a similar name (Deja Q)? Yeah, I technically already started that, but we'll be diving into the meat of it next chapter. Just you know...brace yourselves. ;P
I feel bad for poor Applejack since her scene was so small compared to Discord and Twi's which takes up most of the chapter, but in my defense it has been a while since they were in the same area.
This chapter's title comes from a song I made a PMV for ages ago, Beautiful Disaster I feel it fits pretty well for aPS, which is why it's got a place in my 'DiscoLight' playlist.

Sigh... I do NOT understand why this story isn't more popular. The writing is good, the pacing excellent, and the characterizations are great.
Just last week the feature box contained 5 badly written clop stories of the 7 top fic slots. The readers on this site is just seem to degenerate over time and would not know a good story of it hit them in the face at subsonic speeds.

Back when the feature box was up top on every page, aPS got up there a few times, almost always at around the last three slots (and only for maybe an hour). It might depend on when chapters are posted, or it could also be about what's gaining the most attention at the moment (number of comments, likes, favs in a certain amount of time) I've thought about maybe submitting for the Wanderer D reviews...but I'd feel weird doing that for my own work, Feels a bit presumptuous.
