FriendLiner: a train that travels through time. Will its next destination be the past... or the future?
Spike the dragon couldn't help but notice strange changes in his life ever since his disastrous birthday. The once warm Twilight Sparkle has gone cold and her five friends are missing! To take his mind off of his issues, though, Ponyville is now under attack by strange future beings called Hobblers, and, thanks to a possession incident, an odd belt, and a pass given to him by a pony from a doomed future who happens to be a passenger on a time-traveling train, it's up to him to save the day!
Well, it's not all on his shoulders, anyway. The party-loving nutcase that possessed him, it turns out, activates strange powers from the belt, and together, their bond creates the powerful "Friend-O"! With extra help from the future pony, Eve Stropper, and the crew of the FriendLiner, Spike and the ensemble that he attracts are Equestria's hero, the mysterious Masked Rider!

Friendship is Magic has, at this point, been crossed over with everything and its mother, so it didn't surprise me to learn that someone had already beaten me to the punch of crossing over FIM with Kamen Rider Den-O. Though, I guess since the other one I found crosses the Den-O characters instead of the "platform" or so, I guess it can't hurt to continue writing my version anyway.

Now, a Kamen Rider W/FiM crossover, that would be 11 kinds of awesome. Or an Agito crossover, which just works well with everything. ....Of course, if Twilight, or, really, ANY of the Mane six plus Spike, were to awaken to THAT power.... Well. It's something i'd want to watch from a fair distance. Best safe, never sorry, and all that. Oh. And i'll be following this, obviously.

Double (W) is my favorite of the Rider series so far, but I personally have no ideas as to how I'd pull that off. (Well that and I'm currently in the middle of watching Den-O, so the ideas for this just are still flowing) I'd love to see that appear on this site as well!

Huh. Well that explains a lot. Sir (or Madam?), you should really finish the series before writing a substitution crossover - it'll give you a better idea of how character relationships are supposed to evolve, and in this case, a better understanding of the villain's motives.
Alright, so critique: Not a terrible start, but not a great one either. I can see that you've set up Spike as Ryoutarou and Twi as Airi, which is actually pretty okay as far as substitutions go, but I've got to question your choice to do Pinkie as Momotaros. (It's not a spoiler if you've used your writing to make it pretty clear.) Wouldn't RD have been a better choice? Their attitudes/enthusiasm are about the same, and when things come down to the wire, their loyalty is the same as well. And I can see RD having a better relationship with Spike than Pinkie would, seeing as it's hard to take Pinkie seriously.
Next bit of business - where are you going with the Hobbler thing? Den-O went to the past to prevent the present from being destroyed, while simultaneously teaching a life lesson to its viewers on regretting your mistakes. Here, it just seems like the Hobblers are content to destroy the present, negating any need for Spike (or the Friend-O) to be a Singularity Point, or any of the Time Travelling, period. How do you plan to escalate the war between the Friend-O and the Hobblers, or the stakes involved?
I hope that helped you think a bit about the direction your fic is taking. Keep writing - I loved the Den-O series, and I hope you can bring out something really special with a crossover between these two great series.

Alright, besides thanking you for the constructive crit, I guess I have been a little impatient, yeah. This idea invading my head has actually been filling in details (such as RD's role/who she substitutes for, though now that I think about it, that's really weird too, comparing her with the character she subs for; they are quite dissimilar, but the way I see it, fanfic is a flexible medium for the oddest of experimentation!) about the direction of the pic to the point where I don't even know if it's going to match what I see in the future of Den-O. I guess I would say it started(starts?) as a straightforward substitution crossover before switching tracks, making up a path/end villain and alternate explanations for details (such as how the heck Singularity Points work) and so forth. It's very much the mad results of my own accursed impatience, but I'd like to give it a shot anyway! If I fail, well, then all I did was figure out a hundred ways how NOT to write a substitution fic. (Plus, better I fail here than fail in a community less forgiving/tolerant/otherpositiveadjective than FiM's)
So there are stakes, and more to come from this fic's Imagin substitution than what the first one is doing... I'm heading somewhere- I think, so I just hope I sculpt it good and not end up making it really lame or something! (In the case that this rocket crashes back to Earth instead of going to the moon, I hope I don't end up sullying anyone's perception of either of the two series, yes)

I cannot believe that this doesn't have more views and likes. I mean, yeah, it's a crossover, but I've never watched Kamen Rider, and I'm liking this.
An exemplary introduction! It was paced and resolved well; I don't feel that Eve's decision to delay informing us on Vade's identity is unreasoned or angering.
It'll be great to see Spike notice Pinkie's absence in Chapter Three. Will you use the next chapter to explain why the rest of the mane six weren't watching the chaos?

233354 My guess, the rainboon got undone and everything spiral from there. With Applejack being in Manehattan, Pinkie probably on the rock farm, etc. Meanwhile the canon timeline was destroyed and everypony became hobblers.
Also Honest Form being true to the rider traditions is the one that kicks.

Welp, I dunno how long it's been since this has had an update, so I'll just say this.
I'm not the biggest Den-O fan, but I like the Taros ok, and the system itself is interesting. Seeing Spike as a Rider is win, plain and simple.
That said, I really want to see the others as Den-O forms. For instance, for strength that makes others cry, Applejack. For the one who can't hear them, Rarity. Then again, Raindow Dash would likely be a version of Chicken-yaro...or Zieg as we know him. Heh, Wing Form...
Though, I had a disturbing thought, a Hobbler Twilight as Nega Friend-O...yup, and now my mind is stuck on that one.
Anyway, good luck, either in writing or in life as needed.

Really wished this story continued.
This and that Kamen Rider Drake story are the only fics I found that has Spike as a Kamen Rider and a main character.
This story really interested me.
Wonder how would Luna and Celestia play into the story when they appear?
In fact I wonder if we would get a crossover chapters with Den-O too in the future?
