Rainbow Dash, in love, decides to go tell Applejack how she feels about her.
Getting gently rejected, the pegasus decides she has to move on to something else and not just cry in a corner like she was weak or anything.

Only problem, some clouds keep coming back bothering her.

A very complicated matter handled in a very simplistic manner.

and everything is going to be fine... just perfect... unless somepony does something very odd before she wakes up i suppose although i get this feeling it's only gonna happen in my head. also that reminds me of something completely different from that not sure what but yeah

At first I was like "Wow... what? ".

And then I remembered Neon Genesis Evangelion. And some other movies (Kill bill for example) and I kind of understood where the idea could come from.
I just absolutely didn't have that in mind when writing that story.

Or maybe you were refering to having her painted in yellow entirely and her mane in pink so that when she wakes up she thinks she has become Fluttershy? Silly me, I missunderstood what you were saying.

Yeah, I can see how, and agree on that that would be how Rainbow would try to manage - by pushing it behind with bravado and stubborness.
Though, this is a matter that I don't think will do her well being pushed back and repressed.
