I am an ametuerish writer. This is a fact. I've put a lot of time and effort into trying to improve, but I'm well aware the results come too slowly. I just want you all to know that I will always try to better myself.

Update Post · 6:20am Oct 5th, 2012

I've made some small changes to "Tavern," including adding a somewhat major bonus to Chapter 2 (Edit: After much thought on my part, I decided it wasn't professional to shove an image down the throats of the readers like that. Here's a link to the image on Derpibooru instead. It's got a link at the end of the third chapter now, too.)

Music and Fic Writing · 8:48pm Sep 7th, 2012

I have the distinct feeling that some of what I'm about to write is going to sound contradictory, based on some of the things I've ranted on before. Know, though, that I'm going somewhere with this and I'm going to attempt to make a solid point, so please forgive me.

Side Projects · 4:32am Aug 18th, 2012

I wonder, are side projects really the little things we do on the side, or are they the things that actually matter?

To clarify, suppose you're working on a story. You've been working on it for a long time and you're running into a brick wall. So as a joke, you start writing a completely different kind of project with a different main character and a different feel - even a different narrative style. And instead of running into a brick wall, you end up publishing the side story.

Listen to your editor. · 2:55am Aug 5th, 2012

It’s cowardly to blame your editor for the failure of your story.

If your editor, “won’t let you write what you want to write,” that’s admitting to your own lack of ability. If what you wanted to write was good, it would be published. But you’re not that good yet.

If you’re unhappy with the genre or direction the story is taking or you don’t agree with your editor, then just do what you want to do and prove that you’re right.

Character Driven Writing, Summed Up. · 1:56am Aug 2nd, 2012

Don't think about it.

Don't make up the ideas in your head beforehand. The characters you like will move around in your head all on their own. You want to see them move, it's fun to see what they do, and it's hard to stop writing about how they move.

Isn't that how it is for everyone?

I've often thought the relationship between writers and music was a strange one. A great many writers tend to listen to music while they work - for inspiration, they say. They rely on the music to help inspire them to write. On the surface, this isn't really a bad thing. Professional writers throughout history have used inspiration to help fuel their works, and that inspiration comes from countless sources.

Trixie Confirmed for Season 3 · 9:39pm Jul 13th, 2012

So if the Equestria Daily front page is to be believed, Trixie will be appearing in Season 3.

...Damn. TrixieFic is now worthless, isn't it? It's in the same category as all those Luna fics that came out before we learned about the Royal Canterlot Voice, and how Luna wasn't very timid at all. Just very, very lonely.

Characterization? In MY video games? · 9:38pm Jul 13th, 2012

I've been replaying a near forgotten Gamecube era game called "Tales of Symphonia" recently. I say 'near - forgotten', because I rarely hear people talk about it in a modern context. However, the people who have played this RPG all seem to agree that it plays fantastic, and that it's a lot of fun. I agree. It's a lot of fun, not only because of its gameplay and story, but also because of its emphasis on characterization.
