Monsieur Bleu

I am a public policy researcher; I also like writing and MLP:FIM. I am writing here to test out various literary techniques, many of which I borrowed from the 20th c. canon.

Alicorns—while long considered the most prestigious and blessed members of the Equestrian Aristocracy—in fact, suffer from a debilitating hereditary condition.

His Grace, the Duke of Ambeu, an aging and crippled Alicorn, ponders his own life, politics, and democracy in Equestria.

This is a side story to Rise of the Fluffy Ponies.

Derpy watches as the diarchs debate the rights and obligations of those in power.

Derpy Hooves Wake is a play on James Joyce’s last novel Finnegans Wake and on Ezra Pound’s The Cantos, albeit much shorter. While not intended to be an exact parody of either work, this story explores their styles, themes, and techniques.

This is a short work for its own sake: pretentious, and very experimental.

Also, please comment. I know a lot of readers are turned off by over-the-top, avant garde style writing—and I am okay with that—just let me know what you think.

Merci,
Monsieur Bleu

At the Golden Oaks Plantation, the residence of Professor Twilight Sparkle and her wife Rainbow Dash, slaves and masters alike must navigate love and loss in a brutal and unforgiving world—in the heart of Antebellum Dixie.

Twilight struggles to justify what she knows is an unjust institution, while she tries to hold onto a world that is unraveling around her.

Romance crosses race and class as a young slave girl, Apple Bloom, grows to question her lot in life and tries to confront her feelings for a free girl, Sweetie Belle.

As usual, the writing style is somewhat experimentally and may be hard to follow at times.

After more than a century of politics dominated by conservative nobility, the Co-Principality of Equestria is undergoing a rapid transformation. New, more progressive, voices emerge and a new political elite comes into existence. This transcendence culminates with the Ascension of Princess Twilight. Meanwhile, Derpy, a widow and mother, finds herself thrust into this new body politic.

This story is written in a quasi-experimental style; the plot is very disjointed and at times hard to follow, so it may be a challenging read. Also, alternative spellings and word choice are intentional. Still, advice and critiques are more than welcome.

Justification for use: one of the purposes of this story is to parody British society and parliamentary politics in particular. This image is used to reference the opulence of some aspects of British politics. Image is irreplaceable: the House of Lords does not allow strangers to take photos of their chamber.
