[AUTHOR'S NOTES] Retrospective and Future of Empire · 3:57am Jan 27th, 2022
So here we are, it's been a hair over 2 years and 3 months since I first published Chapter 1.
So here we are, it's been a hair over 2 years and 3 months since I first published Chapter 1.
What it says on the tin. Epilogue 3 wound up being a touch longer than I expected it to be, but that was mostly because I realized I had left out a few descriptions of characters in my initial draft. It was just a matter of fleshing out the text.
The weekend REALLY wiped me out, so I'm gonna stumble off back to bed for a bit. Hopefully I get word back from my pre-reader in time to publish it out to FiMFiction by tomorrow AM, if not sooner.
So we're nearly done. I had been hoping to wrap everything up in time for a Thursday release and do the first-time-in-over-two-years Fanfiction Friday, but my day job had people calling out sick (at least a few diagnosed with COVID-19 in one variant or another) in increasing numbers all week with no appreciable decrease in the workload, so by the time Friday rolled around, I hadn't had any of the extra time I usually would have at work to do the non-writing tasks associated with being an author
Epilogue 2 is off to my pre-reader, probably will get posted out later today.
I'm gonna say right off the bat that I'm not terrifically happy with the way this turned out. Everything happened that was supposed to happen, but the narrative delivery just isn't up to my usual standard, IMHO. I dunno, maybe my pre-reader will have something to say to either assuage my fears or inspire me to improve it.
So at some point in the last couple years, my little catharsis project merited enough attention that it hit the Feature Box:
This joins:
Double Trixie Trouble (which I seem to have lost the screenshot I took when it happened)
Consequences of Good Intentions
Whom Gods Deflower
Epilogue 1 is finished and queued up for pre-reading along with Chapter 11 and I'll be posting them at approx. the same time.
It's off to my pre-reader, who did have to straight-up tell me they wouldn't be reading it until tomorrow but depending on when that happens, you could wind up being able to read it before dinner. Otherwise, expect it to be published by Saturday.
I'm tired, I'm aiming for my bed.
...
...
YES, this means I'll finally be getting around to putting out part one of the Epilogia soon! Let me sleep first.
...just one more, and Chapter 11 will be finished. My pre-reader is even reading sections as I finish them just to get the final product out the door that much faster.
One more scene, true, but I'm knackered. It's at least 3 hours past my bedtime, so I'm hitting the sack. If all goes well, new chapter will be up tomorrow.
(No, the epilogia will not be posted with the final chapter...unless... 😳)
Pretty much what it says on the tin.
It's done!
I've submitted it to my pre-reader, but Chapter 9 is complete so far as the story I want to tell. Parts feel rushed, and this will require a hell of an author's note at the beginning, but I made my deadline of getting it finished in time for a pre-read so the publishing can happen no later than Christmas Day. ('course, now it's in the hands of my pre-reader, and since I no longer live with them I can't pester them ceaselessly from just down the hall...)
