With season five looming on the horizon, it's time to introduce a new alicorn princess. Princess Celestia and her sister begin the onerous task of interviewing the most promising candidates for the job. Meanwhile, back in Ponyville, Princess Twilight Sparkle makes preparations for her own titanic undertaking, a duty thrust upon her with her ascension to the throne. A quest that will undoubtedly change the face of Equestria forever.

The streets of Canterlot and New Ponyville are embroiled in a corporate cold war while more obvious international conflict threatens to engulf the borders. A young, sheltered Twilight Sparkle embarks on a perilous tour of this brave new world with the aid of a select few others: less-than-fortunate outcasts and calculating socialites among them.

Twilight Sparkle, pedantic loner and former student to Princess Celestia, attempts the unprecedented: armed robbery of the National Bank of Equestria. That's her intention, anyway. Twilight's partner in crime, Rarity, insists that two ponies are not sufficient to pull off a job of this caliber. And apparently she has four other participants in mind...

So begins yet another chilly autumn in Equestria. While making her annual preparations for the winter, Twilight Sparkle comes across four jet black volumes in a dilapidated section of the Canterlot Archives. With Princess Luna's blessing, Twilight begins the long, arduous process of translating the ancient tomes. Before long, she begins experiencing horrifying dreams and visions of distant dimensions and indescribable monstrosities.

This is an attempt at blending the My Little Pony universe with Lovecraft's iconic cosmic horror.
