So, I'm still unwell, but on the plus side I'm not getting worse, which was the doctor's key decider as to whether I'd potentially be spending Christmas in hospital. Which is... yay?
So, I've been ill. Signed off work until the New Year. Yay.
(I had a negative COVID-19 test last month, but was then diagnosed with a nasty chest infection. I'll be back. Too many stories left to tell.)
No reason at all.
The best way to grow as a writer, I'm told, is to challenge yourself. Deliberately try to do something different. Unfamiliar genres, Oblique Strategies, artificial conditions, whatever.
It feels wrong to celebrate ten years when I was only here for less than half of them. I regret being a latecomer, not because I was ever made to feel unwelcome but because I missed the Golden Age - by the time I discovered the fandom it was already supposedly on an inevitable downward spiral, smaller and less enthusiastic and more factional. I don't know if any of these things were or are true, but whatever the case, I wasn't here when it started and - when it comes to the ten year
For some reason, on August 23 and again on September 10, someone went through my entire story collection and hit downvote on (almost) everything without reading the stories.
Every time someone begins a reply on a blog or tweet with the words "You DO realise that...", or ends with "I'll wait", they instantly get a splitting headache
