Snow falls across Equestria. Ponies rush to and fro, buying each other brightly wrapped gifts. Songs are sung, cookies are eaten, and festive clothing is worn. Every creature in Ponyville, birds, beasts, and ponies alike, takes part in the hustle and bustle of Hearth's Warming...all except one. Alone amongst the lively and energetic ponies around him, one little gator sits silently and asks himself the question that no one else seems to consider...

Life goes by pretty fast. Sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses. Sometimes we forget what's really important.

Not trees though. Trees never forget. It's a shame they don't have voices to remind us.

Amber Blaze is just your normal, run-of-the-mill, small-town mare. She loves her family. She has lots of friends. She did well (enough) in school. Oh, but there is one thing...

She loves mares. A lot. Like...a lot, a lot. Like...a lot, a lot, a lot.

Lucky for her, she's finally ready to move away from her little village and head off to the big city: Ponyville, where the streets are paved with mares (at least in her fantasies). And lucky for us, she's decided to keep a diary of her time there, so we get to follow along and hear every mare-related thought that pops into her little head!

Celestia help us.

Applejack had always been a helper. If her little sister was struggling with her homework, she would stay up late to help her finish it. If her older brother needed help with the chores, she would happily jump in, taking on more than her fair share of the work. And if she happened to come across a girl and her mother stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire, you can bet your boots she would help them too. Unfortunately, this particular girl has bigger problems in her life than a mere flat, problems that can't be solved with just a few twists of a wrench.

There had never been six greater ponies. There had never been six greater friends. Their lives took them many places, but not always together. They came together in the end though. Not even death could keep them apart for long.

The holidays are a time for food and fun, a time for joy and merriment, a time to spend together with those you love, and with those who love you. It is a time for strengthening old friendships and for making new ones, either with a hug, a loving word, or a beautifully wrapped present. It is a time for people to put aside their petty differences and appreciate what's really important in life. Pinkie Pie knows this better than anypony.

There is one person, however, one ancient magical centaur, who has much different opinions on what is truly important in life.

Rarity is a busy mare, but such is the life of an up-and-coming young fashionista like her. Between designing her newest gowns, overseeing multiple shops in multiple cities, all while managing to maintain her social life, she hardly has time for anything else. There are some things, however, some ponies, that she will always have time for, such as that little red-headed filly gazing through her window of her boutique.

Rainbow Dash is a simple mare. She loves flying, she loves napping, but most importantly of all, she loves her friends. She loves her family. She loves the little tortoise who sleeps in the corner of her bedroom. She loves her town, she loves her country, she loves her world.

She's never thought about what she would do without it all. She's never thought about what she would do if she woke up one morning, only to discover that the world had passed her by. She's never thought about what she would be willing to do, how far she would be willing to go, to get it all back.

Being one of Equestria's premier fashion models is a real pain, at least according to one Fleur de Lis. The mare's friends often hear her complain about pushy designers, hectic schedules, and the ever-present paparazzi.
