    Screw Poll; do both!

Screw the poll; I'm just going to do both. Reason? Simple really: I have a lot of built up creativity that needs to go some where. Plus, right now, my mind's got plenty of ideas for the Hamtaro fic.

Regardless, expect a more proper update blog soon-ish.

    Tiebreker Poll

The results from the poll are in, and there was a tie between the Hamtaro Crossover fic, and the reversed roles universe fic. So, as a result, a tiebreaker poll is now being run. You can find the poll here: https://strawpoll.com/GPgVY2X5Bna

Cool-down Poll Update - Hamtaro in lead

As I'm winding down for the day, I decided to check the poll again (link here) and found the Hamtaro x MLP:FiM crossover in the lead. I know that I made three polls talking about this today, so tomorrow, I will only be checking the poll once tomorrow (which is your last day to even vote in the poll btw) which will be around mid-day. And if you are

Pokemon Egg Groups · 8:14am Sep 3rd, 2023

Since it'll be instrumental to My Little Pony: When Friendship Shimmers - Reboot moving forward, I thought I'd create a blog post to link to in the next chapter's Author's Notes so this way I wouldn't have to copy and paste this information and I don't even know if it'd all fit to begin with. You see, in addition to changing around legendary lore every so often to the point where it gets retconned a lot of the time, Game Freak has also made one other retcon in the games, this time dealing with Pokemon Eggs. Initially, in Ruby & Sapphire, there was an NPC that basically stated that Pokemon did infact lay eggs. Now, Pokmeon Eggs were a things of the Pokemon games since Gold & Silver but in those games, Game Freak was vague about the whole thing. However, ever since Diamond and Pearl, Game Freak has essentially back paddled on this statement, going so far as to outright remove the NPC in question that even had the confirmation line in the first place in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. It's likely they are doing this as to prevent any children playing these games from having to ask their parents about the birds and the bees.

Now as for me personally, I have always seen Pokemon Egg Groups as a game mechanic and nothing more. To me, Pokemon Eggs only exist as a game mechanic. Now, I know there have been a couple of Pokemon Eggs in the Pokemon Anime over the years, but I have always seen the Pokemon Anime as it's own separate cannon away from the games. So, I just want to put out the headcannon I have so that in regards to any and all Pokemon related "pregnancies" that will happen not only in My Little Pony: When Friendship Shimmers, but future Pokemon including stories which follows these rules:

  1. Avian Pokemon like Pigeot and Noctowl do lay eggs, several at a time in fact. All Pokemon with wings follow this same logic, unless that Pokemon is a dragon type Pokemon (See Rule 5.)
  2. Reptilian Pokemon like Arbok and Seviper also lay eggs and also several at a time. So long as the Pokemon is reptillian in nature they will also lay eggs unless they are also a dragon type (See Rule 5).
  3. Any Pokémon that spends its entire life underwater will also lay eggs unless it’s based on an Aquatic Mammal such as a Dolphin or Whale. This applies to anything that isn’t a dragon type (See Rule 5).
  4. If the Pokémon is a Bug Type at all, it will lay eggs guaranteed; even if it’s also a dragon type.
  5. Dragon Type Pokemon are on a case-by-case basis. Pokemon like Dragonite and Salamence do lay eggs, but Dragapault does not.
  6. Pokemon who are object based are judged on a case-by-case basis too. Pokemon that are somewhat object based; such as Golem; are again judged on a case-by-case basis. If the Pokémon is Genderless however, see rule 7.
  7. Genderless Pokemon who are not classified as a legendary or mythical Pokemon are treated as non-binary, are referred to with gender neutral pronouns, and are able to reproduce asexually.
  8. Genderless Pokemon who are Legendary but not Mythical such as Groudon or Kyogre are still treated as non-binary, but will often use either masculine or feminine pronouns (some exceptions do apply); yet they cannot breed period.
  9. The Mythical Pokemon Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy, and Victini are all considered to have many of them that do exist, with one female being referred to as a "Prime Female" which essentially marks them as being able to cross-breed with any male of any species; even non-pokemon.
  10. Other Mythical Pokemon who are genderless are on a case-by-case basis with how they are gendered. Diancie for example is treated as a female and can still be made pregnant even by non-Pokemon; but for Diancie's case, she will always give birth to a Carbink.
  11. If the Pokémon does not fall under any of the above rules, and is based on a real life animal, then follow the real life animal’s rules in regards to birth.
  12. If no real life animal exists for the Pokémon, it’s a case-by-case basis. Expect live births most of the time here.
  13. For Ghost-type Pokemon, if they are genderless see rule 7. Otherwise, a Male and Female Ghost Type will do a ritual dance that will case a baby of the female’s base form to essentially pop into existence. This is considered “Live Birth” by all means, but the way it’s done is different.
  14. Grass Types are on a case by case basis. With outright plants such as Victribelle, a plant egg will be created. With the more animal-like grass types such as Vileplume or Bellossom, the will give live birth. The only exception to this is if they are Avian such as Decidueye or reptilian such as Serperior. If they are, then follow those rules.

Those are the rules in regards to my headcannon when it comes to Pokemon pregnancies, and this headcannon will be used for any and all related Pokemon endavours both on here and Wattpad.
