Talons and Fangs Update · 6:21pm Jun 14th, 2022
Ok, folks. The price change went through a while ago, so the book is now a much more reasonable $8 dollars. It is still just a preorder, though, and I am stuck waiting on cover art. It's a very weird pickle I wasn't expecting as I had to put the book on amazon to properly hire my audio narrator and make an official contract. So while what I have is fitting for the story and good as a place holder, trust me that I'm gonna get you some awesome cover art of Nightingale and her pet Manny the Manticore.
The artist, by the way, is Genzoman (Link) and he has some hella good work. His prices are way higher than I'm used to, but he also didn't bat an eye at me saying I needed the piece by June 27th for the book.
Here's the obligatory link to the book (Talons and Fangs). Still feels weird to self promote like this, but I hope Batty is reason enough for you to trust my writing.
Actually! I think that, I'll start feeding you guys a few snippets every couple of days to show off as little teasers. You know, stuff to show you it has the same wholesome feel as Batty. It's nothing too spoilery, don't worry there.
I froze mid-bite—having just pounced on yet another delicious butterfly—and cursed myself for daring to let my guard down. Ears flicking at the rustling brush, my eyes squinted at the wavering stalks. “Hello? Is someone there?”
“…No?” The rustling quieted, but that let me hear the shaky breathing.
“You shouldn’t answer if you’re not there.” I gave my most ferocious scowl even as I inched backward. My wings flared, and I widened my stance—ready to take to the air even if it meant getting lost in the void.
“Eeep!” The rustling intensified as I bared my fangs. “Don’t eat me!”
“Gargoyles don’t eat people, Dee.” Taking two would be harder, but that one sounded dead inside, so it could just be one-and-a-half.
“I kn-know that!” the first voice cracked as it whiplashed between a stuttering quiver and a heated tsk.
“Do you? Because you literally just begged for her not to eat you.”
The brush rustled once more as the eeep-er sniffed. “It slipped out, alright! Just look at her fangs!”
And again. Sorry for the double blog, but I can't tag both stories at once on fimfic.
