Young Nictis had one dream: to serve his hive by becoming an Infiltrator, the most vital and vaunted role a changeling could aspire to. To hide in plain sight among the other species, blending in, while gathering the vital emotional energies that fueled his people. Few were deemed worthy of the dangerous job. He was one of the few nymphs selected for training, in the hopes that one of them would develop the skills needed to be entrusted with such a treacherous task.

But when a training expedition ends in tragedy, Nictis finds himself thrust into the role not to serve his hive and people, but to preserve his own life. Separated from the hive, alone, he must put what little training he has to the test. He must blend in with the hive's greatest source of food, and its most dangerous enemy: the ponies of Equestria.

(This story takes place in the same continuity as Fragments, but stands on its own. Reading that story isn't necessary for this one.)

The weather forecast promised a snowstorm, and the weatherponies delivered a proper blizzard. Blowing snow, low visibility, not weather any pony would want to be out in.

Buttonwood works at the livery, hauling wagons, and wants to save up enough bits to travel to Prance. Trains wait for nopony; loads must be delivered even on the worst days, and she could stay home but if she does, she’ll never save up enough bits for her trip. She knows the roads, the wagons, the shortcuts. She knows a lot of her co-workers won’t show up in such miserable weather, and that means better loads and more bits. Snow won’t stop a motivated pony.

When the princesses receive word of a mysterious illness breaking out at an archaeological survey site in the Badlands, they send Twilight, Spike, and Starlight to investigate. They find a bizarre sequence of markers, signs, and hints left long before pony civilisation as they know it, leading the way to place long forgotten by history. Together, the ponies must uncover their meaning, before an ancient evil from a past not even remembered by ponies leaves its mark on the future.

A returnee arrives years after the event that transformed all humans into Equestrian ponies, and finds themselves in a body not their own, alone in a dead city, with few resources, and less hope. Set in the "Ponies After People" continuity.

This story takes place some time after Season 2 Episode 26 "A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2".

Kevin the changeling gets a subliminal call from Queen Chrysalis to return to the hive.

Whilst he recognises that he could face severe retribution for having betrayed her, the draw is too strong to ignore.
