Upfront, please check out Count Derpy (don't mind the cover art, it's no longer indicative of the quality and'll be replaced soon), a story I just helped get to a fairly decent level. It pains me to see authors struggle to get their stories to reach their potential, and so I love to help. As some may know, I've done editing recently for Different Events, and I'm proud to say that I think the help I've done there has made it a great story, when previously, it got a bit stalled and had a bit of trouble with characterization and comedy. I also helped out on Moonlight Bloom's other two stories, which are one-shot comedy romps.
And don't worry about it being on hiatus; I'm quit sure I'll be able to get Moonlight Bloom to get back to it like he promised, and every writer needs their breaks from a big story sometimes.
So more recently, while I haven't made as much progress writing the prequel to Second Chances are Magic as I'd like, I have been making sure not to just be idle some weeks, and this last week, I did some editing for an author known as Count_Pony001, who is clearly quite new to things, after noticing that they really had a good premise with their "Count Derpy" story, but just struggled with a lot of the basics of getting it to read well. I do have to say that I can't recommend their other stories just right now, but showing them if you like the Count Derpy story will probably go a long way to supporting them continuing to make stories! It'd be a shame to get it all refined and polished, only for nobody else to read it.
Now, while prorgress has been a bit slow, I think things with with the prequel to Second Chances are Magic are to where it can definitely be finished this month. Everything's sorted out plotwise, and it's really just a matter of getting the little details right. The main pain was that I had to make a retcon to the original fic and spare Twinkleshine, since I found that a pivotal scene would fall apart one way or another (mostly just by making the timing of actions strange) in trying to have her be one of the ponies that dies.
