a post for today · 4:29pm May 22nd
on the afternoon of may 22nd 2011 the us would witness one of the most violent tornadoes to strike in modern history. today is the 13th anniversary of the joplin tornado.
the tornado was a large devastating multiple vortex f5 tornado. it claimed 158 lives with 8 more that were indirect and injured 1,150. it was ranked as the seventh deadliest us tornado. this was also the first f5 to strike missouri since may 20th 1957 when a tornado hit several suburbs of kansas city it was also the third tornado to strike joplin since may of 1971.
since 13 years the city has rebuilt back and come back better than ever.
i was going to write a time frame of the path of the tornado (it's a long time frame). so i share a documentary of the tornado to show how devastating this was.
this is dedicated to the lives lost 13 years ago.
