It's official · 6:56pm Last Tuesday
I had wanted to write something that's bothered me since last night. I've now learned that the last soo line bandit no. 2010 that I shared is officially going to be cut up to scrap. I was really disappointed with this. I had hopped the management at cpkc would donate the 2010 since this is a former milwaukee road gp38-2 but they're not.
I read comments that there were people trying to save the 2010 but management said no to it. mostly due to money and greed as they said.
I just think the 2010 could of been a great candidate for preservation instead of scrapping it.
It's had quiet a lifespan. frist with the milwaukee road latter the aoo line than canadian pacific. (it's also the only soo line bandit to of lasted in the cpkc merger).
I just thought the milwaukee road 261 would of been the perfect place for this unit. i just think it would of been so good with the 261 roster. but I'll move on from that. (what I've been hoping is that either lionel or mth will do the 2010 and I would buy a model of it). so hopefully they will do that and I'll be happy with that.
another unit I founded out that's also had a career as the 2010 is a mp15 switcher. the switcher was built in 1975 by emd for the milwaukee road. first as milwaukee road no. 475, than latter for the soo line as soo line no. 1541, and latter for the wisconsin & southern railroad as wsor 1502, and lastly it still works as wamx 1598 on the mission montana railroad in montana still in the orange and black paint scheme.
so I just think both the 1598 and the 2010 are probably the last known milwaukee road units that exist but still in the soo line bandit patch job. I really wish they did preserve the 2010 instead of cutting it up and it also would of been nice to have the 1598 with the 2010 but that may not be a reality.
so I do hope they'll do a model of the 2010 done the road (and I'd also like for them to do the 1598 and pair them together but we'll see how the future will hold).
I just wanted to write this that I am disappointed in this. but I will get over it.
thanks for reading as always and see you all in the next post.
