ELO Week 2/9 (Mixtape 19) · 12:50pm May 30th
ELO's fourth album is called Eldorado.
Best Fimfiction mod.
It's structured so that a lot of songs flow together without any silence between tracks, which is wonderful.
This isn't my favorite song (Well, a song and its intro song, similar to Sirius/Eye in the Sky), but I would be remiss if I didn't include it.
Eldorado Overture and Can't Get It Out of My Head by ELO, 1974.
You won't be able to get it out of your head.
I know that song. It was ELO’s first hit in the US, reaching #9 on the Hot 100 in 1974.

Too bad they never had a true #1 hit.

No but they had a lot major hits still. They’re still a lot more successful and famous to this day than a lot of one hit wonders who had #1 hits overall. Believe me.
Their highest charting and arguably best known song today was still a smash hit “Don’t Bring me Down” which peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 in 1979. That’s a major hit that would have been all over the radio nothing to sneeze at. I still hear it all the time on oldies rock stations to this day.

Well of course they had plenty of hits, and plenty of top ten hits, they just definitely deserved a #1 as well.
Everyone should listen to ELO at least once in their life.

Yeah they should have had some #1 hits but that’s the way the cookie crumbles I guess. They still had a far more successful career commercially than most bands though when you think about it. Most bands that exist never even have a song chart on the Hot 100 at all. It’s not easy to be famous in music that’s for sure. There’s an insane amount of competition.

And I'm eternally thankful for their success.

Likewise, as well as many other artists I enjoy.

same here
That intro is kinda trippy. For some reason, the song I'm now trying to get out of my head is "Can't Get You Out of My Head" by Kylie Minogue.

Copycat song. (But really probably not.)
And the into is pretty weird, but makes sense in the context of the album.
(The album's about a guy trying to escape the real world by living in a dream world.)

That reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2002, a big comeback hit for her at the time. I have that song in my iPod lol.
