Before I begin this blog, let me just say how tired I am about everyone freaking out about the possibility that Twilight's going to become an alicorn. It's honestly almost as annoying as the whole backlash over Sombra and the Canterlot Wedding; with that said, let the blog proper begin.
Hey everybody, Mule here with a blog about Princess Twilight Sparkle (might as well give her the full title). Now, how many times over the course of our lives have we seen shows pull the 'And it was all a dream' cliche in one form or another? This is called the 'What if...?' episode (at least that's what I call it). A good example would be last season's finale of Adventure Time: the three episodes called The Linch, Finn the Human, and Jake the Dog. That was a huge 'What if...?' situation, and it didn't start out like that.
Now, another example would be from Family Guy: the two episodes Stewie Kills Lois, and Lois Kills Stewie. We had no clue how it would end, in fact it was even less obvious of a 'What if...?' episode than the Adventure Time finale.
What did these two evens have in common? They where advertised to be series changing events in their respective shows. Now, we have the main character of most of FiM turning into an all powerful alicorn princess. Does that sound like a series changing event? Yes. Something that should be at the series finale of a show? Yes. Well then, odds are that it'll be a 'What if...?' episode.
Now I'll go back to another point. Remember when people said that the Canterlot Wedding episode was going to suck (I don't because I didn't hear any of that, but apparently it happened)? Remember how awesome it was? Remember when people said Sombra was going to be the worst villain ever and it would ruin he Crystal Empire episode? Remember how that didn't happen? (Pepperidge Farm remembers.)
So, before we go crazy and start saying MLP is dead, let's watch this episode first, ok? Give the show a chance to show its hand before you try and cut it off.
