Marble (with apologies to Marvin Gaye)
Marble, marble
Palaces that reach so high
Marble, marble, marble
Monuments that touch the sky
You know for building it's so great
Crushed it’s used for aggregate - Ya
Marble, marble
You don't need to foliate
You see, limestone is the answer
Heat and pressure is its fate
You know once that stone is baked
then it’s marble, that’s the way…
Acid it will neutralize
Calcium it supplies
Soil it will fertilize…
That’s what marble’s done
What marble’s done
Ya, what marble’s done
Ah, what marble’s done
Marble, marble, by the Mohs scale you are three
When you’re white it means you
Have few impurities
You know for building you’re so great
Crushed you’re used for aggregate
Oh
Acid it will neutralize
Calcium it supplies
Soil it will fertilize…
That’s what marble’s done
What marble’s done
Tell me what marble’s done
I’ll tell you what marble’s done - Uh

Conglomerate (with apologies to Supertramp)
In the simplest way, every rock is just made of mineral,
Identically chemical, simple
Mix those minerals up and you start to have rocks like Andesite,
Amphibolite, Dolomite, Novaculite…
But for rocks like me, it’s not that easy, we are clastic,
Made of little bits, rocky fragments
It the most extreme case large rocks are encased in sediment,
The resulting mass is called conglomerate
There are times when all the world's asleep
The questions run too deep
For a conglomerate.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me what I am.
Most rocks can say they’re made a certain way, some carbonates,
Sulfates, phosphates, silicates
That’s not true for me, any mix of these, could be part of me,
Sulfides, halides, oxides, all of these!
There are times when all the world's asleep
The questions run too deep
For a conglomerate.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me what I am.
