Creepy thoughts · 12:06am Jun 22nd, 2012
On my way back home from the beach today, I read a couple of creepypastas to get myself in the mood for writing on Don't Go To Sleep, and there was one story in particular that had quite the unsettling scene in it that reminded me of something I have in mind for my story. Looking at how dark and unsettling that story was made me take a step back and realize just how dark I could potentially make Don't Go To Sleep. One death in particular that comes in the later half of the story I believe could have the potential to greatly disturb many readers(which is what the aforementioned creepypasta reminded me of). I mean, I'm going to start the story out pretty dark, but it only gets more unsettling as it will go along. I'm hoping that this will be my best story yet. I know it's odd to compare it to my others since I've only wrote comedy thus far, but I'm hoping to actually make people emotional with this story. Genuinely creep people out with how dark it will be. The first chapter will be here soon, and if it feels like it's not that bad, that's because it's just getting warmed up.
I'm also debating on how much blood I should show. Technically speaking, all the death will be gruesome, but a lot of it will be left to the imagination. But I'm just warning now, if EqD rejects this one as well, I ain't holding back on the blood. The story won't be all about the gore/shock horror like Cupcakes or Sweet Apple Massacre, and mostly just about psychological horror, but I'm not going to be shy on letting the blood pour.
Who knows, if I'm lucky, I may even cause a couple of nightmares by the time the story is completed. We can only hope, eh? Well, I'm off to write. I refuse to go to sleep until I've finished this chapter. If I finish early, I'll do some This Can't Be Happening as well.
Oh and also, this:
Go for the blood and gore, can never have too little of that. Also, if you do manage to creep me out with this story, then congratulations because I have a pretty sick imagination. I read Cupcakes without even shuddering (don't know why people thought it was so scary, kind of boring if you ask me) and watched all the Saw and Exortist films, plus the Shining and didnt so much as even be frightened. What people are doing nowadays is using goring a bloody deaths and calling it horror. I love blood and gore, but you need that certain psychological aspect that really sends shivers down your spine and creeps the bejesus out of you. So good luck, and keep it a sick and twisted as possible.
188197 Agreed, Cupcakes didn't phase me. I've heard people say that it was bad because Pinkie was "In character" while she was doing the deed, but I didn't find it creepy in the least bit, so it was pretty anti-climatic for me. I also like the Saw movies as well, but don't find them frightening.
I'm hoping I'll make the psychological aspect of the story just right, starting it off somewhat tame, and becoming more and more intense and unsettling, all leading up to the finale, which will obviously remain a secret until it comes. I think my mind is twisted enough to pull it off![:pinkiecrazy:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiecrazy.png)

May your mind be devious and your imagination reaching into the deepest and darkest corners of the human psyche, where only nightmares and suppressed thoughts of the sickest proportion lie in wait for the despicable dredge of humanity to claim and release upon the world.
Dammit, now I want to read it even more now!![:pinkiehappy:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiehappy.png)
