Don't Go To Sleep is finally up and IMPORTANT message for followers of This Can't Be Happening · 6:59am Jul 26th, 2012
I'm kicking myself right now for this taking so long. This has been about two months in the making, and against all odds, I've FINALLY put Don't Go To Sleep up on here. About 5,000 words thus far, and that's just the prologue! This is going to be a hell of a long story. Hope you guys enjoy it. Trust me when I say PLENTY of time was put into it.
Alright so, anyone remember my last blog post? You know, from two Saturdays ago? Well I wasn't being lazy that time. As I was finishing up some things on the story at my grandparent's house, I suddenly hear a loud meow from outside. When I go to check it turns out one of the three kittens my grandparents had was attacked by a wild adult cat in the neighborhood. It got hurt bad. We spent the whole next day trying to help it, but with the Vet's closed, the inevitable happened. The kitten died. And even if I didn't know these kittens as pets too long, seeing one of them die was still hard to swallow. Not wanting to keep the other two in danger, grandmom had my mom and I find good homes for the other two kittens. I wanted to keep one but it at least went to a good home.
So how did that take an entire week to accomplish? It didn't. You see, the week after that Saturday I made the blog was band camp week. Everyone in the school band gets together to learn how to march AGAIN and learn the half time show for the year. I'm actually one of the 4 section leaders for my instrument(the Alto Sax), so it was a lot of hard work that week, and I was exhausted coming back from it each day, considering that it lasts from 9 in the morning to 9 at night. So yeah, it sucked.
But now it's finally here. Next week is free too so maybe I can have a second chapter of the story up before school starts. We'll also be doing another Equestria Daily attempt next week but more on that when the time comes. For now, I want to address fans of This Can't Be Happening.
I just want to say that I am so sorry for putting the story on the afterburner while I worked on Don't Go To Sleep. For a story that I enjoy writing so much, and that has received such a good reception, it really shouldn't have happened. So naturally, the next chapter is now at the top of my agenda. But you guys deserve more than just another chapter. So right now I want to announce something. A side story to TCBH that takes place at the same time of the main story, but from the point of view from a certain unicorn that's curious about humans.
That's right, the side story is about Lyra and Bon Bon, but mostly Lyra. You remember her little encounter with Morgan last chapter? Well to explore her fascination with Morgan some more and to just give some good humor from Lyra and Bon Bon being ridiculous, I'm making this.
When can you expect the story? Pretty much the same time as the new chapter of the main story. I'm going to work on the stories at the same time, so when a new chapter of This Can't Be Happening pops up, expect a new chapter of the Lyra story to soon follow. I certainly hope everyone enjoys it.
And what will the title be for this new story you ask? Well, I'm not certain yet. I've gone through a couple of ideas, including:
This Can't Be Happening: Studies of a possible human.
This Can't Be Happening: Lyra's Story
This Can't Be Happening: A Human in Equestria?
or even This Can't Be Happening: Human or Not?
I can't really decide on a good title yet, so you guys are more than welcome to let me know what you think would be a good title, or if you think one of those four would suffice well. But anyway, those updates are slated for this weekend/early next week. You guys deserve something TCBH related earlier than that. So tomorrow expect a blog to be coming your way. A special story about Morgan himself and his real life story and why it made me want to write a fan fic.
As for those who follow me in general, I have a somewhat order for how you can expect all the story ideas of mine. When the This Can't Be Happening and Lyra stories reach their end, A Pimp Named Spikeback 2 is the next story in my queue. See, I don't really like overworking myself and doing more than two stories at a time. The Lyra story is an exception, but APNSB2 will be different. So I'll be working on it and Don't Go To Sleep at the same time then. I actually predict A Pimp Named Spikeback 2 ending slightly(or not so slightly) earlier than Don't Go To Sleep, so after I finish it I'll then start work on Ed Edd n Eddy's Big Pony Show. Its storyline is much less thought out thus far than APNSB2 is, but when that time comes I'll probably have most of the story planning done. After Don't Go To Sleep is done(implying that it is done before the EEnE crossover), the Spike/Rarity ship fic is next. Still don't have a title for it though. Should probably work on that. Anyway, after the Ed Edd n Eddy story is done, the next on the list is Not Just Some Featherbrain, aka, my Derpy fic. It'll be somewhat shorter than everything else on the list, even the Lyra side story, so it'll probably also be done before the ship fic. After it, the final story I have ready in my list is A Pimp Named Spikeback 3, which will conclude the story of Big Mac and the titular character. And it'll be epic.
That's everything I have planned thus far. After the ship fic and APNSB3 comes to a close, who knows what'll be in store for me? Only the future can tell. But until then, I hope you guys enjoy what I got planned for the present.

Actually, you could save yourself a ton of time and just weave the Lyra side-story into This Can't Be Happening as a subplot. Morgan would just be out and about doing what he thinks can send him home or just minding his own business, and then WHAM Lyra pops up. Morgan gets the idea she's stalking him and it drives him crazier and crazier as the story continues. We don't really need to know Lyra's whole side of the story, we just need to know Morgan's.
Just some advice. And I love subplots that accent the main plot.
