    A dead PC...

    ...creates troubles for everyone.

So guys, my PC died. I'm fairly certain it's the motherboard (given everything else works when tested individually), and thankfully it's still within warranty (just shy of two months) so I'm hoping I can get it replaced. Goddamn asus.

    Summary that never was

Hey guys, so a single update today, still struggling with getting to work on writing.

I hate it when things like this happen, but all I can do atm is keep trying to jumpstart the creativity.

    Sorry guys

I apologize for the lack of updates. Although I am writing a bit, I've found myself in a bit of a semi-writer's block. I'll get out of it, but it is delaying the stories.

Reading Fics... · 12:24am Feb 9th, 2012

So, how often do you leave a comment on a story you like?

Do you only track it and fave it but not bother to leave a comment?

Do you always leave one?

Do you try to?

Is it even important to leave a comment?

What do you think?

I try to leave comments on stories. If I find a fic with multiple chapters, I read through them and post a comment/review at the latest chapter. I think it's important, yeah.

I post comments when I feel like it. If there's no benefit for me or the author from my commenting, then I might comment only to boost morale, or try to explain something to another reader as I interpreted it. Other than that, I usually don't comment. i don't lke being the three word troll, you know?

mostly i just fave and rate and/or track. i will rarely leave a comment.

I comment when I either have some form of input or am just very impressed with the story overall.
I think the basic answer to most of this is "I comment when I have feedback but not just for the sake of commenting, with a few exceptions which I can't really find a pattern in". As for tracking and favoriting, I track any story I'm interested enough in to want to know when new chapters are coming out, and I favorite a story if I like it enough that it becomes one of my top examples of stories I like (of which there are currently 6, only 3 of which are on FIMfiction).

I don't tend to comment. I track if I'm interested (don't have to have read it), and favorite if I liked it (after I've finished what's been written). I almost never comment, since most of the time it would would be to say that I liked it, and I feel that's what favoriting it did. I will only comment if something about it truly struck me, and that usually means they referenced something I like (like ReBoot). I also am more likely to comment if the author asks for comments at the end of the chapter, especially if they ask a specific question.

As far as importance goes, I (who am not a writer at all) imagine that authors would enjoy hearing specific likes and dislikes about their stories. I don't think that it's important, but I imagine it's nice. But, as a non-writer, simply having a blank field to comment in means I won't know what to write. That's why I like when specific questions are asked.

Bit more info than I imagine you were looking for, and only slightly on track, but there you go.

If a story is good I leave a comment , if its bad I criticize it and show the drawbacks :trixieshiftright:. If I track a story I tend to leave a comment in all chapters :ajsmug:. If I love a story i ask questions about it to the author :scootangel:, leave more than one comment in each chapter, and give it a track and star :pinkiehappy:

>So, how often do you leave a comment on a story you like?

Not often.

>Do you only track it and fave it but not bother to leave a comment?

Mostly yes.

>Do you always leave one?

No.

>Do you try to?

I always try to leave comments when I think the author or the story could use a different approach, a new idea or a new perspective, or if the story is exceptionally good.

>Is it even important to leave a comment?

Depends on the story and on the rest of the comments. If everyone is leaving the same comments I simply do not comment unless I can give a reason or something different.

For example If everyon is commenting "I like red" the I would post something like "I like red because is the color of passion"

>What do you think?

About the whole comment thing? Well I think comments are good a fun to read when you are an author, but not having any is not exactly bad either. Its good to know what people thinks but its more important that the author "enjoys" what he is writing, otherwise even if it is a fan service it usually stinks.

if the question is about the Sweetie Chronicles, I would like to say that I miss a bit the "silly" personality of Sweetie Bell. In the show she is very eager, a bit clumsy and a little slow to understand things. Since the Werewolf incident she changes a lot of this traits and she is grows as a character, but sometime I would like to see her in a situation where a bit of subtlety is not enough to save her from problems.

I generally don't comment - the few times I do, it's because I actually have something to say. I'm more likely to favorite & track.

i only comment when my sentiment hasn't been already said by any prior comments...

I try to leave comments, but usually forget :( I'm a bad reader :applecry:

I always try to leave a comment after reading a fanfic.

Whoops. Seems like you double-posted this one, Wanderer D. See this entry's twin for my stance on these questions... :pinkiehappy:

:facehoof: Yeah, when I clicked on "post" I got a bad gateway message and then, when I came back later in the day, I had two blog posts and no way to really delete one... Knighty, Blog posts should also have a "delete" option!

Nevertheless, I thank you all for your comments! :pinkiehappy:

10983 Yeah, I try to do that myself, although sometimes I finish a story and think "I'll post a comment tomorrow..." and then I forget :facehoof:

10988 Heh, well, I think your comments are generally more than three words! :pinkiehappy: I remember your first comment on TSC!

10994  Cool. But then, if you don't mind my asking, why do you comment in the rare occasions that you do?

11002 :raritystarry: That makes sense, I think it is the most common agreement as to when comments are made- when you're trying to contribute something. I've noticed that you have very few favorite stories, so it's an honor to have one of mine make it to your list! :raritywink:

11015 Hm, specific questions... :twilightblush: I'm bad at those, but I'm finding that a general sentiment here is that if it's been "Faved" it tells us authors that you liked it. (Which it does!)

11028 :rainbowdetermined2: That seems like a good approach in my opinion!

11034 :moustache: That last thing might happen soon... maybe not in the way you expect it though...

11043 Cool!

11084 That's a pretty valid thing... why repeat what everypony else said? It's also a trend from what I can see! :twistnerd:

11204 :pinkiehappy: That's cool! Support is always appreciated! Especially when you lose sight of where the story is going! I think readers can sometimes really save a story from doom! :zecoraiconthatdoesnotexist:

11287 Well, it happens to all of us :twilightblush:

11304 And it's much appreciated!

I try to leave a comment most of the times, but I sometimes I put that on "later". And I also feel stupid when I don't have anything to say except "Great story!". In those cases I seldom leave a comment - yeah, so... I'm trying to change that :facehoof: I mean I actually know that the comments are all a fanfic author has to live on, no matter how short they. I've been there myself.

When I come upon a fic, that already has multiple chapters I normaly comment on the latest chapter at the time and then - depending on the story - every new chapter thereafter.

Sometimes, when the author doesn't respond at all, especially when I leave a longer comment, I'm a little disappointed.

This blog post actually reminded me I'll still have some stories I need to comment on... better get going :twilightblush:
