I believe it's because she's absorbing the 'love' Sandbar has for the story he's reading. When you're passionate about something you can put your heart into it when you're talking about it.
I hate knowing this will never ever be addressed on how there new transformation helped them from absorbing love. G5 probably won't even mention them
If she wanted to absorb love from someone's love for Power Ponies, missed opportunity for Spike.
