Princess Celestia and Princess Luna are widely considered to be goddesses incarnate of Equestria. But goddesses have entities they must answer to. A thousand years ago, Celestia was challenged by one of these entities for the fate of her domain. She won, but at a terrible cost.

I’ve always been a nervous mare before our meetings, wondering if what I had done measured up to her expectations. But I had never before entered those rooms with the blood of another being on my hooves. I swallowed, dreading what I would discover behind those doors."

Twilight faces more than she bargained for when a resort island turns out very different from her expectations, and she must make a decision that will forever change how she sees herself.

The Nightmare has returned, using Rarity as her new vessel. Twilight steps up boldly to save her, but is soon lost to the darkness. What evils lie in wait for these two now? What horrors await the innocent in their path? Can they take over Equestria?

Not likely, seeing as it's still Twilight and Rarity, and despite the new looks, it's the same old ponies. A new romance between the pair does little to aid their conquest. Heck, it would take complete incompetence on the guards part and easily scared ponies to see these two in any real position of... power...

We're all doomed!

Pinkie Pie has noticed something: every time Spike wears a hat, his personality changes in accustom to said hat. The mare then thinks of something that would be funny, and that would be to get Spike to wear all the hats she can find.

Spike is also unaware that he is wearing a hat at all.

Twilight can't sleep. It's not stress, or the fact that the ponies in the Equestrian Council have been horrible at passing the new budget proposal. No, it's something much deeper, something that only one pony can help her with. But she doesn't realize she needs help until it is eating away at her mind.

Celestia finds a very young Twilight outside her room. Not knowing who brought her here, the Princess cares for her until a new family can be found. However, the Princess is oblivious to twilight's past, and the truth may have scarred Twilight for life...

When she ends up stumbling into Ponyville once again, she finds herself waking up in the homestead of the pony who had caused a lot of her troubles. The town's local librarian, Twilight Sparkle.

The two soon form beautiful friendship that buds into something more. How exactly do you tell you friends that you are in love with the pony that enslaved their town? Let's just say this does not end up well for either of them.
