For Captain Twilight Sparkle this is a chance to get her charge to start taking his station seriously as she guides him along his first royal task.
For Prince Spike this is a long awaited chance to make new friends, and maybe get his no nonsense guardian to loosen up a bit.

Tonight the dead return to see the living. For one night, from sunset until sunrise, each living pony will be visited by one dead pony. Secrets will be unearthed, and unheard tales from the depths of history to the near past will be revealed.

Sequestered in her Manehattan penthouse in self-imposed isolation, Noir hides from Equestria, maintaining her crown assigned duties as the city's Poet Laureate. Rumors of her gross deformity and the history of her fall from grace haunt her every waking moment. Plagued by events she cannot alter, Noir's mind has slipped into a world where fact and fiction blur. Solace is sought in drink and debauchery, and her magic has decayed to the most basic of skills. Protected by her diamond dog companion, it is only a matter of time before she tells one lie too many and finds herself utterly alone.

Between castle gossip, professional rivalries, a blooming romance, and a mysterious malefactor still at large, Decurion Twilight Sparkle has a lot on her plate. Hopefully, she'll make a few new friends as she moves towards the destiny she's chosen for herself.

Princess Nightmare Moon had tried to keep it secret. She had suppressed her power, feigned ignorance, played the outdated fool at every opportunity. She should have known that something like this would happen. A threat that would reveal her, whether she played dumb or not.

If she had to reveal herself, then at least she could protect Equestria in the process. She nocked the arrow. The bow felt so flimsy, but she could not risk him absorbing a spell. She laced magic across the arrow and the string and the air, enough to make it fly faster and aim smoother. She sighted him easily; Tirek was a large target. Now he only had to turn around. An arrow to the spine would kill him simply and instantly, no matter how much magic he had absorbed.

Once he was dead, the hard part would come: explaining herself to Celestia.

In 1968, in a world not unlike our own, the residents of a sleepy Ohio town witnessed an explosion of light and power in the sky, and three mysterious creatures fleeing into the wilderness. Forty-five years later, the top-secret bureau founded to investigate these events is but a shadow in a world of great threats. Their government has disavowed them. The public has all but forgotten them. They are pressed at every turn to keep the world safe.

Until tonight, when a vortex of rainbows and power surged into the skies and changed the world - and the lives of the two agents sent to investigate - forever.

Celestia was always a "family mare". She always held up families as one of the greatest social institutions in the country. She is famously good with children. All of Equestria looks to her almost like some great parental figure. But for some reason she has always been childless herself.

Perhaps it's time to change that. She is, after all, married to the most wonderful mare she had ever known.

Principal Celestia has accidentally fallen through the mirror into Equestria, and it may be a bit before she can go home. Until then, she has to learn to cope with a strange world, in a strange body.

At the same time, Twilight has to figure out how she can help her new guest while keeping Equestria from freaking out over the presence of a second Celestia, and Sunset Shimmer has to figure out how she is going to make amends with those she had left behind in Equestria, while keeping an eye on her Principal.

Disclaimer: Since I wrote this description ages ago before I even knew the plot, the story is mostly pure comedy in the beginning, with eventual Sunlight and Chryslestia shipping!

As a princess, Cadence is used to the slog that accompanies any fundraiser. It's not fun for anypony, but it is important. When it becomes clear that Twilight doesn't have the same issues, Cadence feels like she can enjoy herself a little.

Although that doesn't mean that she can't help some ponies out in her own little way.
