Octavia is a young up-and-coming piano master, hailing from a Canterlot family who has bred some of the best piano players in all of Equestria.

Vinyl is a young, wayward unicorn, born in Ponyville. She's a troublemaker who loves music but can't find her instrument.

They come from entirely different circles. So how is that the two ponies who loathe eachother at first sight, come to help eachother gain their cutie marks; and maybe even become friends?

Sometimes, a mare just needs to climb a tree and stay there for hours and hours and hours on end. Octavia does not find this amusing, however. On the eve of her big audition for the Royal Canterlot Symphony, she needs her sleep. Unfortunately for her, Vinyl has the keys to their apartment, and she just won't get down from her darned tree.

It's going to be an interesting night... But maybe not for the reasons Octavia suspects.

Based on the song 'I am Octavia' by ElieMonty and Nowacking. You can read this without hearing the song, but I strongly suggest listening to it because it's just beautiful and it'll give you a little more background for the story.

Octavia has had enough. Enough of the selfishness, enough of the hurt, and...maybe enough of Vinyl Scratch. After telling her she was going to miss her concert, again, the earth pony calls their friendship off. Now, it's up to DJ Pon3 to let her best friend go or fight tooth and hoof for their friendship. But with everything getting in her way, will she be able to make it? Or is one of them going to need a new place to call home?

Vinyl Scratch, the most famous DJ across the entirety of Equestria, holds a deep, dark secret. Why does she let no one into her music room? Not even her beloved Tavi.

Octavia's past isn't mentioned often, or heard of for that matter. This story aims to change that.

This tale is of how Octavia has come to discover the melodious sound of the cello. And a very traumatic event is what started it.

Concerts are a big deal for Octavia, especially concerts in which she should place second chair in the highest symphony in Equestria.
Of course, things should be going smoothly; Tavi has gotten her music nearly memorized, brand new strings installed and tuned, and a nice, gleaming polish on the top plate of her cello. Everything should be just fine.
