But after the events of Anon-a-Miss, her whole world is flipped upside down and she must rethink her relationships with her friends.

The holiday season rolls around, bringing changes in Sunset Shimmer's life. Although she's never been very festive, it is her first holiday with friends, and Sunset wants to make the most of it. But along with new experiences, old memories of a burning cold lake threaten to overwhelm her and her fragile new friendship with Applejack.

When Sunset finds another student from from school beaten and hiding in an alley, she does the only thing she can, she takes the girl home with her. Can one wounded soul heal another and save Sunset from the hate deep inside?

One girl a bully with connections to the underworld with a short temper.

Another girl afraid and shy to the point that it can be difficult to get through the day.

Both of them hurt by families, their souls near shattered. Will time together soften one and strengthen another, or will it cause everything to explode when truths are learned?

This is an AU starting before the first EG movie, though it will continue into it with changes. The world will work differently than our world and possibly a little different than the EG world being some relaxations on certain things.

This isn't tied to my other stories in anyway and is a birthday present to a friend of mine, Happy Birthday K!

Arc 2 has split off into 2 different timelines so has 2 different stories.

The Sun and the Shy: Shadows Rising is the story centering around Sunset and Fluttershy's transfer to Crystal Prep Academy.

The Sun and the Shy: Canterlot Blues is the story of Fluttershy and Sunset staying at CHS and goes through the first movie.

When Rainbow's house is destroyed by a drunken pegasus, her whole past begins to unravel before her, dredging up memories she would rather keep forgotten.

It's up to Applejack and her friends to make sure that she gets through the ordeal, but things turn from bad to worse when an unwelcome visitor arrives to stir up trouble.

Whether she wants it or not, Rainbow's life is about to change dramatically... and it doesn't look like it'll be for the better.

Teen for more adult-ish themes and mild violence.

When Twilight Sparkle accidentally casts a spell on Applejack that forces her to voice all of her thoughts, Applejack realizes that she is in danger of revealing her feelings for Rainbow Dash to the entire world. At least Rainbow Dash isn't around to hear her.

Sunset Shimmer has lived in the human world for over ten years now. Some of the best and worst days of her life have happened there. When she finds herself no longer having a place in the world she's grown accustomed to she travels back to her homeland of Equestria to figure out who she is and where she belongs. What she finds is a land and people irreversibly changed by time.

Twilight Sparkle now rules over this new Equestria. It is a time of peace and prosperity for the entire world, so why does the Princess seem so sad?

The visit becomes a point of contention for Rainbow Dash, who experiences a new range of emotions during that time. Tragedy shatters Sunset's world. Laced with guilt over what happened, she cuts herself off from her friends. A month almost passes by before she forces herself to leave her apartment in a halfhearted attempt at regaining some normalcy from the broken shards of her life. However, recovery isn't an easy process, and with each day that passes, her pain only intensifies. But as long as she puts on a smile and tells people what they want to hear, it doesn't matter whether or not she gets better. So long as no one else suffers because of her, that's all that's important, right?
