Life is looking up for Sunset Shimmer.

With her grandstanding at the Battle of the Bands, Canterlot High has taken a new approach to her. Amends have been made, friendships have been restored, and Sunset is on the fast track to becoming a better person.

But even now, there are still apologies that have to be said.

For her Spring Break, Sunset returns to Equestria to make up with her estranged family: the parents that raised and provided for her, and the sister she left behind. But a lot has changed since then, and some wounds won't heal by just saying 'I'm sorry.'

Fixing friendships is one thing. Sunset will be put through her hardest test yet when she tries to bring her family back together.

The personal diary of Sunset Shimmer: from the days prior to being chosen by Princess Celestia as her new prize student, to her ascension through the School for Gifted Unicorns, to her corruption and lust for power, to her escape to and conquest of Canterlot High School, to her attempts at atonement, and finally her redemption.

After seeing "Rainbow Rocks", I wanted to do a Sunset Shimmer piece, but I couldn't think of a good stand-alone that wouldn't come off as another "Equestria Girls" clone. I think I could come up with a "good" story if I thought of it long enough, but I'm backlogged on fanfiction dot net and I wanted a quickie. This isn't my "best work" by far but hopefully it will interest people more in my more "dramatic" work...or, heck, even my "Two Background Ponies" series.

For the first time since coming to this world, Sunset was to have a happy holiday spending time with her friends. That isn't to be though as a new blog by an, "Anon-A-Miss" turns the whole school against Sunset, including her friends. After the truth is revealed though, Sunset isn't really offered any apologies by anyone other than the real person, or people behind the blog; Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle. Leaving Sugarcube Corner while everyone is talking about what had happened. As memories of the past week plauges her mind, Sunset decides to just give up since all of her hard work trying to prove that she had changed was for nothing if everyone could so easily be turned against her. Will the girls save her and prove that they love her, or will it be too late?

Sunset Shimmer isn't sure she's got much to be merry about this holiday season.

A few weeks ago, she thought she'd turned her life around. Now she's not sure she's accomplished anything at all. Not since the incident... Scandal, really.

When the rumors had begun to leak, everyone was so certain it was her spreading them. That she'd returned to her old ways, that her reformation was nothing but a charade. Even those she'd called friends were so quick to assume the worst, and to disown her. And even after the true culprits confessed, the damage had been done.

So now it was Sunset's turn to lose faith. Because if those she called friends were so ready to distrust her... Had she ever really had their trust or friendship at all?

Set after the Equestria Girls Holiday Special.

Sunset Shimmer has faced a lot, but now she returns to something that puts more butterflies in her stomach than everything else combined...returning home for a simple picnic with her mentor and Princess Cadence.

Can she reconcile with her loved ones and enjoy the day? Can she get over her nerves enough to actually ENJOY the day?

A commission by Alexwarlorn, who wanted a carefree, happy, lighthearted Slice of Life story I was glad to provide.

During one of her daily walks while out of school, Sunset Shimmer stumbles across a lone Sonata Dusk sitting in a coffee shop. Curiosity gets the better of her, and she approaches the Siren to start a conversation. What she gets in response is little less than shocking.

However, as the hair 5 are learning, Sunset isn't all she may seem to be. This confident girl may just have a secret or two that she doesn't want out.

When Sunset saw Sonata Dusk return to CHS and experience a very familiar treatment, she encouraged her friends to reach out to the Dazzlings just as they'd done with her after the Fall Formal.

Several months later, Aria and Sonata have come to discover some joy in their new life-after-magic. Adagio, however, has continued to refuse the offer—out of bitterness, spite and an unwillingness to give those 'rainbooms' the satisfaction of seeing her break.

What she has yet to realize is that clinging to this resentment is hurting no one but herself.
