Celestia sits down for morning tea. That much is regular and calming and a good way to greet the day. She looks across at her darker self, Daybreaker. It would perhaps not be as calming as she had hoped.

Spoilers for Season 7, Episode 10: "A Royal Problem," and a certain new character called "Daybreaker". Tagged for Celestia since her body is technically in the story, lol. The first few paragraphs are in the form of a diary entry by Princess Luna, then it gets into the action after that. Bow Hot Hoof and Windy Whistles may have finally patched things up with their daughter, but Rainbow Dash isn't the only Wonderbolt who has some grievances to address with them.

Spitfire, the young Wonderbolts captain, decides she needs to address a few concerns she has with Dash's parents and their excessive fanpoyism. Both at shows and at events.

But Bow and Windy will be quite surprised not just at Spitfire's words, but at her own experiences. After all, this isn't the first time the Wonderbolts have dealt with a family problem.

Long ago, Luna turned into a twisted, evil version of herself, and Celestia remained to watch over Equestria. Yet Celestia has wondered whether she too could turn into a "Nightmare"... and she's speculated about what she would become.

She has kept these thoughts to herself, but when Celestia and her sister witness the former’s evil counterpart, "Daybreaker," in a nightmare, Luna notes that Celestia does not seem too surprised at her own "dark" side...

The next evening, Luna asks Celestia for her thoughts on Daybreaker - and asks what exactly would turn Celestia into such a monster...

But this is all changed when close to her breaking point Luna meets a creature who can grant her what she wants, to be loved while her elder sister is scorned. Her wish is granted but at a dire cost. What she thought was her dream come true became a nightmare that the princess of dreams could not escape.
