personally, after the first three calls, I would've picked up the phone, said "either leave a message or stop calling" before immediately hanging up. I let it ring a fourth time and when they don't leave a message, I take the phone off the hook before they call, and leave it on the counter... but that's if I didn't have the phone I have now, that has the option to turn off the ring (which I would've done when I got home)
