When you go from making a spongebob crossover to the conjuring for the sequel:

You know a ton of folks are bound to ask: 'Gentlemen, how did we end up going from a family comedy to straight forward horror?'
Well that's just the thing about our series. The 'Cinematic Adventures' does not stick to one genre of feature films, unlike the 'Disney Chronicles' (Even though the themes of their own movies contrast). We're always seeking for a movie that presents the ponies with a different atmosphere almost every time and up till now in the series they've never faced anything as dangerous as the forces in this movie. Now I for one only just started watching this movie when it was proposed from Mr. Enigma that we should do the movie together and it's going to be a real learning experience on my part.
But for now, it's all about setting the atmosphere and motivation: Princess Celestia having the rare seizure due to some unforeseen force. Visions of a terrifying display of violent horror and thus propelling her student and her friends, with Sunset Shimmer, to explore this dimension where the vision came from and investigate it. They may not know where they are going, what dangers they'll encounter, or how this trip will affect their lives. But they intend to see through to this trip to the bitter end.
All we can guarantee to our fans following the series up to this point, even if they don't know this movie, this won't be all sunshine and unicorns.

I've already seen some paranormal TV shows and movies that the spirit world is very, very unpredictable.
Well that’s just great, twilight and the gang may have faced their fair share of scary events on their adventures both in equestria and the cinematic universes but this time its gone up from a 1 - 3 scary setting, to a 100. Hopefully they cane handle themselves against this evil.

So, we went from brightly colorful, goofy adventure, to pretty much one of the scariest horror movies in the last decade. If that isn't a complete tonal whiplash, I don't know what is.
