I would normally agree with you, but noticing a few other stories with higher ratios that are almost 8:1 like/dislike on the popular stories sidebar should be on the feature area. Not dissing the author of this story mind you, considering I had fun read it, it's just there's more deserving stories.

i don't know how i feel about the implication that a story's rating determines whether or not it's 'deserving' of a spot in the featured bar
that said, i'm flabbergasted at how poorly this story is being rated. it's now, according to the ratio of votes, the worst story i've ever written, and i felt it was a fairly inoffensive subject matter when i started working on it, so i'm just as surprised as anyone that it's still in the spotlight. i don't know if that's a sign that fimfiction isn't the place for my writing anymore or what.
either way, if i remember how the algorithm works, it only showed up due to a sudden influx of up-rankings, and will likely disappear when values are recalcalculated in a bit, so hopefully that will allay your worries about other stories getting a short shrift of attention.

By deserve, I think he was referring more to the numbers rather than the story. That's my issue, too. The numbers don't add up. I haven't read it, nor do I plan to, so I won't comment on the story's quality (or lack thereof, if that happens to be the case), but the numbers make it quite out of place in the feature box.
I can't help but feel this just might be a dry, sarcastic response to Sparity clop. If so, it's far too exaggerated to be taken genuinely as satire and it sure as hell isn't going to convince me that Spike isn't a catch for any mare. If it's just written for shts and giggles, though, then Spike aught to be one of Rarity's visitors, but a much more suave, confident, well-groomed, and level-headed one with whom she assures herself more time and isn't secretly being laughed at.

again, i'm pretty sure the selection criteria is on positive votes over a short amount of time after approval. like i said, if you're miffed about it being in the way of stories with better numbers, it should disappear when it's recalculated. i think that's partly in place to keep people from vote-bombing stories out of the featured bar once they get there, but you'd have to ask knighty for the specifics

Before, I would have agreed with that. However, I saw a story with a slightly better rating than this rise to #3 from #7 while its rating declined. So, I'm not so sure if I can agree with that sort of common sense anymore because the feature box defies that fairly sound logic.

i didn't feel like giving the chapter a name, so it's chapter 1
which is still technically correct, as it's the first chapter anyway

I don't know how to feel about this piece, though if what they say about your writing is anything to go by, I should start getting used to the
factor of your writing.
From an objective standpoint, it was well written, and I couldn't find any glaring issues with it. From same objective standpoint, bravo good sir!
From a more subjective standpoint, I found it interesting how you portrayed Rarity in this. I've read fics where she's had quite the ...off-kilter interests, shall we say?...but not anything like this, and for that, I applaud your originality.
