Storyline is settled shortly after alternate School Raze (with some elements from Season 9 Premiere and Finale), where Tirek really managed to flee from Tartarus and tried to wipe out all Equestrian magic
In this story, Cozy Glow wakes up after being thrown into Tartatus, then being brought back by "Grogar" and finally becoming a stone statue with Chrysalis and Tirek...or she thought it happened.
When Twilight Sparkle appears nearby Cozy, a little pegasus is terrified and remorseful, but headmare quickly fills her in on everything that happened during and after the moment Tirek fled Tartarus, almost wiped out all the magic from Equestria and even almost killed Cozy. She also knows from Princess Luna that Cozy had nightmares of being thrown to Tartarus and then turned to stone.
But there are some things Twilight wants to know about Cozy.
Sounds like Cozy needs some serious therapy, she has abandonment issues, one that can be used against her by some very dangerous creatures if it was learned.

A very in-universe way to say 'School Raze' didn't happen. Or it did happen and Tirek so happen to interrupt Neighsay's scheme so this and that and he teamed with the Young 6 he supposedly despise to defeat Tirek and there.

Yeah, me neither - especially when she regretted failing her test on purpose in the "Marks for effort" episode and putting her first friends - CMCs to trouble.
I still think she just had some serious problems that were ignored.

I would have liked to see something that explores her Insanity after she's been freed from Stone because that's the logical thing that will occur if you've been sealed away in stone for who-knows-how-long also I would like to see what the consequences that would occur to the Mane 6 Luna Celestia and Discord for letting it happen
Not going to lie, going into this story, I expected some kind of twist where the events that were supposedly just Cozy's nightmare actually did happen, and this was just a fantasy of what could have been while she's imprisoned in stone or that Twilight or someone decided to try release Cozy and pretending like everything was a nightmare was an elaborate attempt to help reform her.
But this is good. I like that little call out of how the show actually handled punishing and how easily Discord was let off the hook by Luna.
