After being free of the Darkness, Stygian has practically thrived since his return from Limbo. He’s become a successful writer, and the Pillars have helped him no longer feel like he’s insignificant compared to them. But even so, he struggles to find his place in the group and still wonders whether he’s actually worth something.

In the midst of it all, Stygian finds himself falling in love with Mage Meadowbrook, the Pillar of Healing. A development that does not go unnoticed by Starlight Glimmer and Pinkie Pie, who offer to help him.

Meanwhile, despite her health clinic becoming even more successful in the modern age, Meadowbrook has felt constantly concerned over Stygian’s well-being. With her guilt over when she first turned her back on him with the others secretly still ongoing, Meadowbrook wonders whether there’s anything she can do to truly ensure that Stygian is alright.

The only question is…why? Why, more than any of the Pillars, has Meadowbrook become so focused on Stygian?

The arrival of Wild Card, a boastful pony with magical skills and gambling problems from Trixie's past, arrives in Ponyville during Trixie's magic to make Trixie's life miserable after blaming her for his misfortune, angering Trixie's friends. Trixie's friends try to get her to stand up for herself while Trixie resists her friends' requests to challenge Wild Card.

When one of Rainbow Dash's friends comes to visit and starts treating the townsponies poorly, Sunset receives multiple complaints about the griffon from townsponies and her friends alike, leading Sunset to get angry about the newcomer and tries to sort out what to do about the griffon.

All of Sunset's friends know Sunset is a bit stubborn and set in her ways. When Sunset starts offering to help her friends with their business and other townponies, she accidently gets in over her head with her own paperwork. Sunset is forced to admit she needs help and learns that asking for help isn't always a bad thing.

After the Memory Stone, Sunset heavily invests time in her friendship with Trixie while trying to figure out where she sits with Wallflower. During her time with Trixie, the pair start viewing each other differently unknowingly to each other while Sunset's time with Trixie accidentally hurts her friends, leading them to believe they've been replaced.

Sunset hates Valentine's Day. It's just to line companies pockets with money to validate people feeling important. She may be a bit upset she's single again but is refusing to admit it. Trixie is a bit more angry that not a single person at Canterlot High is interested in her. The two run into each other during a school Valentine's Day party. Maybe finally the two can actually admit their feelings to each other.

After catching Flash cheating on her, Sunset is a mixture of depressed and angry. An angry high schooler with access to alcohol is never good. Naturally, Sunset's friends hate their fellow high schooler, even Pinkie and Sunset vows to never date again until Rarity sets Sunset up with a friend of hers.

After the events of the Summer Sun Celebration, Sunset is adjusting fairly well to Ponyville life. Somethings are way more difficult to get used to than she originally thought but has her friends. When Sunset is given six tickets to the grand galloping gala, she is less than enthused but her friends don't understand why she hates the gala but will quickly find out why.

When Princess Celestia sends her prized pupil, Sunset Shimmer to Ponyville to help organize the Summer Sun Celebration instead of reading about the return of Nightmare Moon, Sunset is tasked with making sure the preparations go well and more importantly, make a friend.

Sunset doesn't really care about friends though, finding herself dealing with an overly enthusiastic Royal Guard Cadet, a horse shoemaker pony, a mailmare, a magician and a flower pony.

May Celestia have mercy on her soul.
