Twilight has always grown up close to Luna and Nightmare Moon, both whom are two sides of one coin. The Sun is but a myth most have forgotten and so are the elements. Life as far as Twilight is concerned couldn't be going any better, for there are only 2 whom she cares to hold dear. All until one fateful day in Luna's embrace she is asked to help end the darkness, by finding the elements and making some friends. Reluctantly Twilight agrees but only for Luna and no pony else. Setting off on her quest to help with the Lunar Celebration must she make friends, and find the elements all before it is to late.
(The first what if story in many to come, and since I can't post separate stories in the chapters, I will be posting them as separate what if one shots.)
While some of these what if stories seem like they could use a continuation, the idea is to put the thought into some ones head so that they can if they wish, pick it up and continue the story.

4944460 Right didn't catch all the Luna ones that needed to be changed to nightmare moon, was rather tired when I was going through the editing process, that should now have been taken care of, and everything put into it's place.
Secondly yes it is a one off, but the idea is for some one else to find it interesting enough to pick it up and create their own story based around it and what not.
4942787 Well yes, that certainly would happen in reality now wouldn't it? But then I am going off of how the show seems to be able to get away with... wilder things like Day and Night happening at the same time, and of course lets not forget Twilight messing around with the Sun and Moon in Twilights Kingdom... All of which would have cause some drastic blow to the ecosystem and agriculture. So you know what... screw it and lets just say there's some strong preservation magics in effect here.

The pramace and Idea are both awesome, however the Execution could've used a bit of work. still I loved the story.
It's not bad, some grammar mistakes here and there and some of the explanations, like why Applejack knows about the sun should be fleshed out more.
Biggest mistake I saw was "unmatched by none" I'm guessing you meant unmatched by anyone or matched by no one. Unmatched by none is a double negative and basically would be the same as saying, matched by everyone.

by the way when you began the story you had it sound like luna was preening twilight but in other parts of the story you made it sound like twilight was a unicorn can you tell me what you were trying to do with that???
5125303 Preening isn't solely related to birds as such, with that being said I was going with this definition of it: To trim or clean (fur) with the tongue, as cats do. I hope that clarifies it.
The idea with these "What If" Stories that could continue is the idea that some one likes it enough to pick it up and continue it, so who knows your wish may come true one day.

4942787 actually, in the show what she did was put the sun behind the moon, as in a solar eclipse, which would allow the heat and radiation from the sun to hit the land. so most plants would actually be fine.
