Dear Princess Celestia,
So, Princess, are you ready for Nightmare Night? Oh, it's early, but it's never too early for creatures like you and me. Do you have your costume picked out? It's not very long now. Are you going to do the same thing as the last four hundred and thirty seven years and just spend the entire time hiding in your palace while leaving your sister to deal with the common pony? A very exclusive source has let me know that she plans to visit Ponyville. Oh, don't even think about going along, you'd just cramp her style—but how do you think she'll feel when she learns that you don't even take part in this ridiculous little holiday that you invented in her name?
If you can't come up with anything at all, you could always turn to me. Your sister can attest to the disguises I can make even for you ponies. Wouldn't it be interesting to get out among the common folk? Why, you could even even try to get a proper understanding of what the common pony thinks of your sister on this, the one special day of the year you've designated to single her out for fear and hatred.
As for me, I was thinking that I might try 'changeling' for a costume. It's the kind of look that would really become me, you know?
I will give you a moment here to put your head in your hooves and murmur to yourself: 'Chrysalis, no.'
Now we shall continue my rebuttal: Chrysalis, yes. This can be our little soft introduction, with your ponies so inclined on Nightmare Night to look at anything out of the ordinary as a trick or costume.
And just think: you'll finally get to find out what we look like.
Yours in childish frights,
Queen ChrysalisP.S. 'Nightmare Night' is certainly catchy, but you really should have tried to push for a less specific theme.
At this rate, I doubt there’ll be an invasion in this AU. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cadance and Shining simply invite Chrysalis to the wedding. She’ll give lots of sass about it, but she’ll come, and spend the whole ceremony fielding questions from a very enthusiastic Twilight .
Oh boy, time to really buck the timeline!

Well, Chrysalis certainly won't be invading, I'll give you that.
10476230
If you introduce a human to the timeline and nothing changes, was there ever really a human there at all?
10476223
Not enough silliness. Shiny or Cady invites them "and entourage" and forgets to tell anyone else and the whole thing ends up with a wing of the palace in low orbit again.
nice work
I see Chrysalis is going for a diplomatic victory.
Soon ponies will be wearing the changeling's blue jeans and listening to their pop music.
This is a question. Why no question mark.
...Er, that is, why no question mark?
I’m hoping she somehow convinces all the castle staff to dress as changelings. Unlikely, but you have to admit Celestia’s paranoid reaction would be worth it.
Someone disguising themselves as the thing they actually are will never stop being funny. Bonus points if it's a deliberately awful costume, like an advanced robot wearing scribbled-on cardboard boxes.

I also love when the disguise is just them with a fake mustache
: "Thanks; I needed that."
So, this is an alt. Universe where chrysalis has been writing to the princesses since the beginning of the series?
10476810
I believe the implied isekai is that it's some other person in the head of Chrys doing all this.
Chrysalis YES!
10476833
Really?
10476490
I get that reference but I prefer science victories.
10476943
That's how i've come to understand what's going on, anyways.
10477025
Interesting
10476321
Yes.
10476946
Ah yes. Science victories.

S rank writing.

So, the real question: Did Chrysalis disguise herself as a common changeling or appear as herself. Appearing as herself might have been a bit troublesome, given her unusual size would be harder to fake with a costume.
CHRYSALIS ALWAYS YES!
Damn! Bugwaifu has style
10476627
Because she WILL.

Darn! I was about to comment that. XD
