hewo gamers, figured I'd update with some big news! Now that I have a couple years as a producer in the animation industry under my belt, the chances of TGOM becoming an actual original cartoon have risen dramatically.
Thus, I am now full steam ahead on developing a bonafide animation pitch for TGOM! (Which now has a new working title that I can't reveal juuuuust yet.)
Just like the original, it will be about Girl Gamers™ and Fandom™ and Game Dev™ and Drama™ and Misogyny™ and International Politics™—you know, the usual suspects.
We'll see how it goes. Stay tuned for more! I hope I can return to this space with some good news.
P.S. ARTISTS! I may soon be looking to contract some artists to help me develop visuals, key art, and character designs for the pitch! If you:
- have an artistic background
- are familiar with MLP
- are familiar with TGOM
- are interested in gaming

mmmmmmmm, hmm.
i'd like to update the story, if at all possible. but most of my energies will be going into getting the TV show off the ground. and i think it's reasonable for me to expect my readers to understand that a TV show is gonna be higher priority than a fanfic. bigger audience, better reach. and that better achieves my goals of wanting to make the world a better place.
i tell stories because i have something to say. why say it to thousands when i can say it to millions?
(also it'll actually pay the bills. if i'm to be a parent like i dreamed, i need to have a proper career that will sustain that, lol)

Nothing about this story says they must be ponies. Most of the cast are fairly basic character archetypes, and so an original cast just requires more effort establishing those characters. Although how Swan Song deals with the character who is implicitly Luna, if at all, will be interesting.

There is mountains of proof to attest to the rampancy of misogyny in both the developed and undeveloped world. If you intend to dispute it then you are in the wrong place, and I would suggest you take your business elsewhere, because I will not be hosting any such discussions on my blog. There is too much shit to clean up and we do not have the time or the energy to entertain anyone who would rather plug their nose and pretend the shit don't stink.

Wow…that's incredible.
It's really a rare treat to see one of your favourite stories getting an upgrade into a much more mainstream media, reminds me of how full of potential we still are here.
Anyway, the idea of making it an original series sounds fascinating. About girls playing video games? I've never seen any show like it and it could be quite refreshing in the industry. (also I know it probably wouldn't happen because playing games require better digits, but it would be cool if they're still quadruped. Hardly ever have I seen any show with main characters like that.)
Also…misogyny…yeah, putting that alone with politics in a show is already daring enough. I can respect that.
The typical gamer is certainly not on the favoring female side, But I personally wouldn't call it "mysogyny". It's more of a stereotype that the public has over the years. Boys play video games and girls play with dolls and dresses, just like how boys should watch Transformers and girls should watch My Little Pony.
However, that's beside the point. As long as the story is realistic, feels natural and can relate to the audience, most of them wouldn't complain. Telling stories is how we change people without letting them feel like they're being lectured, like how Uncle Sam's Cabin changed people's views on races.
