Man, did you ever go back and just... cringe at what you did before? That happened to me with Fool's Gambit. The story has plenty of potential, that's not the problem. My problem is with how it's written. The prose is off, there are numerous errors, and I feel like the whole thing is rushed. Like, that first part could have easily been 4-5 chapters longer, and it would have been better for it, since I'd have more room to really flesh out Shadow Heart, and really sell her snapping like that. Knight Breeze putting her through the ringer could have been handled better, too. At this point, I'm seriously considering rewriting the whole thing.
Given that this is my least liked story, I'm just going to pass on it for now. Come back to it with a fresh perspective, and really build the intrigue plot from the ground up. But for now, I'm going back to the Nautilus Protocol, and baking a new chapter for that, and A Darkened Sky, before I even think of coming back here.
i have been reading a story on here called sapr. I read it in draft 1 and I almost put it down. I am so glad I didn't. Over the years the author really improved and now has gone back and been rewriting it. The before and after has been amazing to experience. You should definitely do a rewrite if you aren't satisfied and believe you can do the story justice to your vision now that you have more skills.
We all start somewhere.
