    MLP AU Magic system

To those who read this blog post, I'm going to elaborate on the magic system of this AU. There's different kinds of magic: biologically exclusive magic (magic that can only be used by a specific race) and general magic (magic not restricted to a specific race).

    General magic

    MLP AU idea

A couple years ago, I came up with this MLP AU. This AU is redesigned from the ground up, rather than simply an alternate timeline from canon. In this MLP-AU, all races are regular anthros, human-shaped hands and bipedal body shape with tails, wings, and horns, but, hooves instead of feet. The ponies also have a severe gender imbalance problem, where roughly 80% of their race is female, which

My take on TMNT · 11:16pm January 14th

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with MLP, but, I felt like sharing it.

Plot:

After the death of their owner, a rat buck and a female turtle escape to the sewers to survive. One day, a canister of ooze falls into the sewers and splatters the turtle and her hatchlings. In his efforts to clean the turtles, the rat gets some of the ooze on himself as well. The ooze mutates them into more humanoid forms, making them stronger and more intelligent. 15 years later, the hatchlings are well-trained ninjas. While hiding from the general public, they protect New York from the Purple Dragons street gang and the evil Foot Clan, lead by Oroku Saki, the Shredder.

Characters:

Ninja Turtles:

  • Leonardo (Leo): The first of his brothers to hatch, Leonardo is the leader of the Ninja Turtles. Originally wearing a red mask, this was exchanged for a blue one. His weapon of choice is a pair of katana.
  • Raphael (Raph): The second of his brothers to hatch, Raphael is the muscle and most aggressive of the Ninja Turtles. He’s the only one of his brothers to retain a red mask. His weapon of choice is a pair of sais.
  • Donatello (Don/Donnie): The third of his brothers to hatch, Donatello is the brains and techie of the Ninja Turtles. Originally wearing a red mask, this was traded for a purple one he wears under a pair of glasses. His weapon of choice is a bo staff with an array of attachments.
  • Michelangelo (Mikey): The fourth and final of his brothers to hatch, Michelangelo is the heart of the Ninja Turtles. Originally wearing a red mask, this was traded for an orange one. His weapon of choice is double nunchucks that can collapse into tonfa or a single kusarigama.

Hamato Clan:

  • Hamato Yoshi: Hamato Yoshi was a human martial artist and biologist born in Japan. He was the original owner of Splinter and Elisabetta. Splinter learned Yoshi’s moves through observation and mimicry. Killed by the Shredder, his methods live on in the Ninja Turtles.
  • Tang Shen: The deceased wife of Hamato Yoshi, Tang Shen was known for her beauty and kindness.
  • Hamato Splinter: Once an ordinary pet rat, Splinter would go on to learn martial arts and teach it to his adoptive sons to make the world a better place.
  • Hamato Elisabetta: The mother of the Ninja Turtles, Elisabetta raised them to have unprejudiced hearts. While most turtles abandon their eggs after laying them, Elisabetta refused to let her children be harmed, knowing the Shredder’s out there. While not a fighter, she’s quite formidable when her family is in danger.

Other human allies:

  • April O’Neil: The first human to be on civil terms with the Ninja Turtles, April is a high school student who wishes for a normal life. Her father was a research collaborator with Hamato Yoshi, allowing her to know about Splinter and Elisabetta. It was her idea to use multi-colored masks and even introduced the Ninja Turtles to pizza.
  • Casey Jones: Arnold Bernid "Casey" Jones is a sports fan and son of the late police officer Herb Jones. Casey witnessed the Purple Dragons kill his father in a fire when he was six, setting him on the path of the vigilante. He wears a hockey mask to prevent the Purple Dragons from recognizing him.

Foot Clan:

  • Oroku Nagi: The older brother of Oroku Saki and rival of Hamato Yoshi, Nagi was a jealous man. When Tang Shen chose Yoshi over him, he attempted to kill her only for Yoshi to kill him in a blind haze. His death fueled the drive of his younger brother.
  • Oroku Saki/The Shredder: Nagi’s vengeful younger brother, Saki sought to kill Yoshi to avenge his brother, setting up a branch of the Foot Clan in New York as a cover. Splinter and Elisabetta witnessed his cruel slaughtering of their master, but, never told the Ninja Turtles until later to avoid tainting their training with hatred.
  • Oroku Karai: Born Hamato Miwa, daughter of Hamato Yoshi and Tang Shen, Karai was taken from her mother as a baby by the Shredder and raised to be his right hand.
  • Tokka: One of the Foot Clan’s high-ranking warriors, Tokka was among the first group of humans to be mutated by the Ooze into more powerful henchmen for the Shredder, becoming a mutant snapping-turtle, giving him a nigh impenetrable shell and powerful fangs capable of tearing through solid steel.
  • Rahzar: Like his partner, Tokka, Rahzar is a high-ranking warrior of the Foot Clan, who was among the first group of humans to be mutated into more powerful henchmen for the Shredder, becoming a mutant wolf, giving him great speed and agility, as well as expert tracking skills, making him the perfect hunter.

Other villains:

  • The Kraang: A legion of rogue Utroms bent on terraforming the earth.
  • Kraang Prime: The tyrannical leader of the Kraang.
  • Baxter Stockman: A scientist who helped Shredder use the mutagenic Ooze to create some mutant warriors to work for him, only to be betrayed by him and mutated with the DNA of a fly, mutating him into a horrific mutant fly.
  • Tattoo: An assassin who places tattoos on his body after killing a "worthy opponent". When he meets the turtles, most likely being sent after them after being hired by Shredder, he decides to save a space on his back for their tattoo. Fights with a Tanto blade.
  • Bebop: Once a human member of the Purple Dragons, he was mutated into a warthog mutant by mutagen.
  • Rocksteady: Once a human member of the Purple Dragons, he was mutated into a rhino mutant by mutagen.
  • Scrag: Once a human member of the Purple Dragons, he was mutated into a bat mutant by mutagen.
  • Hunter "Hun" Mason: Leader of the Purple Dragons, Hun is more intelligent than the average street punk.

Hey, this is interesting details, nice plot.

REALLY good information. Thanks immensely for sharing.

5763691
Thanks. I'll be adding more shortly.

I really did not know that the Turtles had a actual mother with them back then.
Wonder why that got ommited in the 2004 and 2012 and 2018 cartoons?

5763694
Elisabetta is my idea. I made her to eliminate any ambiguity of the biological relations of the turtles.

5763695
Oh yeah.
Kind of misread that bit.

5763696
I updated it a bit.

Again, the updates look pretty good.

5763698
Thanks. What do you think of April's father collaborating with Yoshi?

5763699
I think it's a pretty intriguing detail. Well thought out.

5763701

Another excellent detail. Adding an additional parent is simply a beautifully inspired touch.

5763702
And it eliminates any ambiguity of the turtles' biological relations.

Sounds awesome

Looks awesome, so far! Can't wait for the other characters to get their own bios soon!

You should write this as a story.

5763715
Unless it’s an MLP crossover, it’s unlikely that it’ll go up here.

5763693
STORM: I hope you include Venus de Milo. While I haven't seen or read anything she's part of, I like there being a female turtle (there's also a female named Jennika in IDW). Plus, I got this weird thing where I feel bad for fictional characters (especially popular and/or major characters) falling into obscurity (unless they're something that doesn't age well, like...the blackface-esque Africans in "Onward, Leo!"/"Go Ahead, Leo!")

5763720
BRANDON: I think I might come up with something involving her.

5763717
I would still read it. I would just need the link.

Plus I can imagine Splinter having a crush on Elisabetta.

5763727
They have a mutual respect for each other.

5763728
But with moments where she scolds Splinter in Japanese?

5763731
Yeah. Mostly for important things.

Excellent job on the additional information on other characters. This is certainly coming along nicely.
