Wow. Seriously I have been unable to load this site for that long.
In other news: Pros: I am still alive I am not in Afghanistan (Haven't been for a fairly long time) Cons: Not in the US Not in a location that furthers my contract (contract can be considered "extended" for the foreseeable future)
I am still alive, but am still deployed for foreseeable future (Remember kids, read the fucking fine print.
Pros of past ~Month: __ Major Rank-up: Now am a E-7 (Sergeant First Class) __I am in-charge of a squad __I still have my old CO __ I am alive still __ I am Alive __Have quit smoking (Somehow)(except second-hand)
Onwards to what has nerfed me from this and many other sites. (I've been gone, what, a month?) 1. I have been really busy due to my work with an average of 108.5 hrs of my being active in my job. (If that doesn't make full sense, ask and I might be able to explain better)
That sucks... Good news: I got into boot camp I leave for it on the 9th of Feb. Hopefully you don't get shot at too much... I also hope you still like sand.
778947 The current end of most recent extension will leave it at ~4 years total. I have lost track of total time. I do know that once Feb 15 passes all of my unit will be getting paid 3x the "normal rate."
778960 Awesomes for ye! Sand isn't that bad, fertilizer is much worse
779001 That would be the normal for over seas pay? Jesus... you guys are gonna be rich by the time you get back... I mean... danger pay, and over seas pay is already practically double one's salary...
779005 Lets see.... Rank: E4 with 3 yrs ($2,157.30) [x3'd] Family Separation Allowance: $250 [x3'd] Basic Allowance for Subsistence w/Dependent: X<$1,100 Housing Allowance w/Dependent: $705.90 Monthly Career Sea pay (less than 1yr): $65 HDIP: $150 [x3'd]
and...that's all that applies other than my HALO Cert and 1 "extra" Language. So I make about $9,419.80 monthly, if I did the math correct and included all relevant pays (correctly/at all). (Pre-tax as well I think)
That sucks incredibly much. You only had a little while left, right?
778620 Had ~15-16 days left, now may have up to 360 days left. After that point, it will very likely be illegal for them to extend it again.
How long has your tour been so far? An extra year sounds insane, and that's coming from someone who spends six months on a carrier.

779086 E4 is only 2.100 in the US? What the hell... that's equivalent corporal 1, right?
779325 Close, in the American system I am a Specialist, the rank just beneath a Corporal. Not certain what it's equivalence is
779831 In Canada, Specialists are also corporals or better. The end up being Cpl spec 1-4, and they get minimum 5,000 a month.
That really bites, man. Of course, I'm sure you know this already. I was really looking forward to that off-roading camp.
Well, we can always do it later.
In other news, my bro-in-law is in his final weeks of Boot Camp. After that he's going to become a radiologist.
780032 Ah, I have learned. Wait, $5,000 Canadian or American dollars?
...Never-mind, it's only a $4 difference
780054 Aye, it is so
That be true, very so!
Cool, he gets to cure with technology!
