So I realized all the sex scenes I write are boring and repetitive

While putting the finishing touches on the latest chapter of Her Body Was Cold I realized something; I suck at writing sex scenes. Every sex scene I've written to date has been bland, repetitive IKEA Erotica.

Now, you could argue this isn't wrong; making sex boring and repetitive can say a lot about the participants (and in Sombra's case, this effect isn't entirely out of place). But that wasn't really my intention, so I don't have any excuse.

Starting with the next chapter of both my stories I will be making some effort to be less bland and unengaging. I apologize to anyone who managed to sit through everything I've written so far

I never got the feeling that what I was reading was particularly bland, but if you say so, and want to take it as incentive to try and write better, then by all means, I guess.

1239625 The content isn't bland (it would take some effort to make necrophilia bland ), but the descriptions are lackluster most of the time. I must have wrote "He put X on/in her Y" or variations dozens of times by now I'm glad people enjoy reading what I've written so far, but I think a good author should always look for areas of weakness and improvement.

I just read your new chapter, and I think I can see what you're talking about. It felt...I dunno, procedural, I guess.

The fight scene at the beginning, however short lived as it may have been, was actually wonderfully written. I can't quite put it into words, but something about it made it infinitely easier to imagine in my mind than any other fight scene I've read in a long time.

1239932 "Procedural" is an appropriate word; that's how I felt when writing it.

My writing style is very blunt and to the point. This is fine for writing a fight scene or dialogue (I don't write the former often, but I'm glad it worked ). It's pretty boring during sex, however, so hopefully I can do better now that I recognize the problem.
