    Not gone, and not forgotten

    Hello, everyone.

I've been receiving messages recently from people concerned about the story, fearing it's dead or I'm not around anymore. While this is not the case, it's easy to see why many might think so.

    RIP Terry Pratchett

Still working on the next chapter, though this blog post is less about the story and more about something that happened yesterday.

    Not dead yet!

Nothing much to report at this time. Work is still progressing steadily on the final chapter. Based on the responses from the last blog, my current plan is to release the chapter in chunks due to how long it'll probably end up being. That said, I'll want to be sure everything will be able to tie together. I don't want to release the first third or so and then find out the last two thirds won't

Progress update · 1:57pm Dec 1st, 2014

Hey, everyone! Thought I'd let you know about my current progress since when I last posted.

1. I mentioned before I wanted to try and write up to 50K words for this month, not just in honor of NaNoWriMo, but to also make significant progress on the story. Unfortunately, I came up very short in this department; the chapter currently stands at about 18K words, and I'm estimating this is only about half the length of what the chapter will ultimately be. Maybe even less. Knowing that, I'll definitely be breaking them up as I go along to make them more easily digestible.

2. On a brighter note, while I couldn't write as much as I wanted, what I have written so far as has made the path of the story much clearer to me. My current goal is to write the most important events/dialogue I intend, while putting in enough action and transitions to tell the story coherently. Once I'm satisfied with the chain of events, then what comes next it improving its quality so that it's in a presentable and enjoyable state. Even the words I have written now can do with some significant improvements.

3. Related to what I mentioned in the first point, what I may do is that once I've gotten the "basics" written out, then I could release parts of the final chapter as I finish it, rather than holding everything back and then releasing it on a single day. You're feedback on what you prefer would be appreciated.

I'll be posting another update next month, probably around new years. Until then, have a great day, and thanks for reading!

Every time I see you in m feed, I wonder "Who the hell is this guy?", then I check your story list and be like "OOhhh Its this guy!". Seriously, this is becoming a tradition at this pace :derpytongue2::rainbowlaugh:

Knowing that, I'll definitely be breaking them up as I go along to make them more easily digestible.

thanks you so much. Nothing kills my willingness to read a fic more than chapters that are +20K words long.

admittedly, even your 10-15k word chapters are kinda pushing my limits. But your story is more than awesome enough to make up for it!

2626564 :twilightsheepish: I'm the same way. I track so many stories that sometimes I forget what one author wrote. I believe it will be better to release the final chapter in parts. Some of my chapters I broke into parts once I hit ten thousand words. Once I broke it grew to by another two to three thousand overall or per chapter.

then I could release parts of the final chapter as I finish it, rather than holding everything back and then releasing it on a single day

Id like that a lot.
As is, I need to spend a few minutes just trying to remember whats going on in the story at this point.
More parts spread out over /short-ish/ time would allow for, hopefully, a easier time reading and digesting the story.

Every time you write even a blog post I need to take time just to remember who you are and what you write.
No offense.

I can't wait! I'd definitely be up for breaking the final chapter into smaller parts.

Especially considering your track record with long chapters

Call me an outlier, but I personally prefer one long, solid chapter over a bunch pieces. Now that's not to say I don't like updates-- I love me the Pale Pony as much as the next guy-- but there's something about those 10k+ word chapters that just gets me excited. It's like knowing that something in the story is gonna happen, and it's gonna rock.

Release it in parts, maybe part of the reason you're held back is because you're not putting anything out/progressing and so you keep focusing on the same things repeatedly and never finishing anything. I could be wrong, but even if I am, I'd still say do it in parts.
