Cutie Mark Crusaders Overanalyzers, yay!

Oh wait... that gag's run its course now, right? Well of course it has, otherwise this blog post wouldn't exist.

WHO WANTS TO OVERANALYZE SOME MLP?!

I KNOW I DO!

So, I finally caught up, and of course I watched the Crusaders of the Lost Mark. And while I thought the episode was freakin' amazing, and everything about it was wonderful, I do gotta say... there are some discrepancies, aren't there? For three reasons: the marks don't match their names, unique special talents were heavily implied in the talent show episode, and each of their marks bear emblems that make no sense in context.

So let's make sense out of it, shall we?

My theory is, not just that they're GOOD at helping others find their cutie marks/what their cutie marks mean, but the WAY they do them earns them their mark. Let's start with AB. The first part of her name- Bloom- is easy, as they are helping ponies to bloom. Apple, however? Seems awfully specific. Plus, she's got the apple on her emblem.

Now, here's the main issue- the Crusaders really operated as a single entity during this episode. They didn't play individual parts that make up a greater whole. So what could signify the differences? Maybe it's symbolic. Maybe she's Apple Bloom because it takes a LONG amount of time and care to raise an apple tree, but the fruitage it bears is oh-so-sweet.

Obviously, then, similar reasoning must be applied to Sweetie and Scoots. Scootaloo's lightning bolt could represent decisive action, instead of dawdling and dragging hooves. This explanation also works for her name.

And Sweetie Belle? I think she just exudes an aura of happiness- kindness and happiness she extends to others, as pleasing to them as a beautiful melody. Maybe she sings, too. Singing is a big thing in MLP.

My only question is- why the shield? Does that just tie into the "Crusaders" name they gave themselves, or what? What do y'all think? And hey, if you have any better explanations, let's hear em! However, I don't want anything along the lines of "oh you're overthinking it" or "it's just a kids' show, calm down" because I WILL NEVER CALM DOWN. BE QUIET AND LET ME HEADCANON.
