In regards to the stories The Monster of Canterlot and A Monsterous Family Reunion
I want so badly to like this story, and its predecessor, really I do
But I can only read about celestia's super-powered half-alicorn son doing really irresponsible stuff and constantly just getting away with it because he such a nice guy for so long
Even when he gets "punished" he just shrugs it off, the only thing weighing him down is his constant blinding rage, which he does nothing about, we just have to hope and pray that fluttershy is within spitting distance so a mouthy griffin doesn't get strangled to death (with little consequence) or two idiots don't make a pony cry and whoops, guess we have to hope he doesn't kill everyone, no biggie.
like I really hope his parents get rightfully pissed off about celestia not sending him back because they never stopped looking for him, he would've popped back to a local park where anybody with half a brain would've been like oh, a child lets check a missing kids list of chris' that live in this town, poof=family reunion. They visit it every year on the same date for petes sake! They were accused of murdering their only son! If I was his mom that would be my breaking point, not "them or us" breaking point but "these ponies didn't care about our suffering at all and they want us to sympathize with them?" breaking point
I'm so tired. I read both stories straight thru because I kept hoping to get some catharsis out of it but the payoff isn't worth it. Like I said I really wanted to like it, and it is well written, but I'm so tired. I really liked bits of the first story, and maybe I should've stopped there because the cute proposal ending and meeting his parents again should have been enough for me.
Anyone else would've been punished for multiple assaults, but for such a peaceful race who are supposedly going to be afraid of such a "monster", my but ponies are forgiving because he's just. Such. A nice guy.
My record is reading about that for 3 seconds, so far. 2 seconds longer than I drop any Displaced fic like a hot iron. If I work at it diligently, maybe I'll get it up to 4 seconds without groaning and rolling my eyes, then hitting the downvote button.
