The wait is almost over. · 10:40pm Jul 21st, 2018
When first posted Idol Hooves and The Deathly Tired Princess, I had a simple goal of writing my own take on Idol at the Canterlot Wedding. A small, one-shot that could be mistaken for an official chapter to add to the believably. After that, I had no plans on continuing the story since I had given my take on the event and had no stories left to tell.
That has changed.
I'm in the alpha draft of a new chapter, one that will dive further into Idol and Luna's relationship and hopefully provide better closure to certain points I now feel could be fleshed out a bit more. I'm pushing for two weeks from today, but that's more of a personal goal than an actual release date. As a thank you for your patience, here is a very small preview.
Note: This chapter is still in very rough shape.
“Where’s my sock Idol!?” the thestral demanded as she closed the distance between us.
I held my ground even as Mothchaser felt it necessary to invade my space, leaving the very tips of our muzzles touching. From this distance, I could read her like an open book If I wanted to but didn’t to leave the mare her privacy, which left us staring into the other’s eyes. Those orbs still frighten me.
We’ve worked together on and off for nearly a decade and I would go so far to claim we were at the least friends, given her constant invitations to ‘lay back and relax’. Other times I’m invited to the Night Guard Wing to partake various challenges involving food, but the tingling fright of being so close to these ‘predators’ never completely left.
I had learned to suppress these feelings of fear to be more compatible with our night counterparts, and it has proven invaluable. But those eyes always reminded me that I was dancing with fate.
“Where’s my sock Idol?” Mothchaser asked again with less volume.
Idol what did you do!! Also looking forward to it :D
Yay, I just can't get enough of reading about Idol. One of the very few stories that i can re-read many times and still enjoy it.
Thank you for writing and I can't wait to see what happened to that sock.

Wow, thank you for the kind words! The main reason this bit is taking some time to finish is because earlier in a comment I said I didn't know what other stories I could write.
This chapter started taking form last month and since than has come together in bits and pieces so at the moment is more of a collection of paragraphs than a unified chapter. A nice thing to spawn from this is I might have one more idea for a chapter featuring Topaz and our favorite changeling foal.

But yeah, writing is a creative process and usually it does not pay off to rush it. So I'm happy to patiently wait until we get more to read.
