Well, I'm probably retiring from FIMfic in a semi-official capacity. I say Semi-Offical because I still have a few stories to complete. Quite a few actually.
But what I will not be doing is releasing any new stories. You see, well "It Takes Two"? That was an experiment, just to see what would happen when I released it. Now, I'm not above admitting I do like to be popular, but I'm also doing this for fun. Still, a bit of a downer though when you see a story that literally took me several days to work on -for varying reasons which I will not discuss- only got less than 20 likes. That is not encouraging.
I think several of the reasons I discussed in my last blog post are at play here.
...It's really telling that a lot of the popular stories go after the end of the story, like a few I've seen with Rainbow Dash realizing how old she's getting and learning to deal with that.
It's kinda gotten to a point where you get the feeling not even sex sells. Okay, yeah, sure sex stories are meant for a quick one, but there's not even any new clopfics.
I think there's another reason, for every story that the fanbase has come up with, it's either been done to death or canon episodes have squashed the possibility of ever being true in some form.

Not even sex sells turned out to be prophetic, right? But, I still have stories to complete, plenty of them and while I won't be releasing any new stories I will be working as hard as I can to complete the ones I still have.
Well, except for That Long Wandering Road. I've grown bored of that one, to be honest, and I think you all can tell.

Yeah, I'll be around on the boards and stuff, and I do have a few people urging me to reconsider. For the time being though, I am more interested in finishing off my existing stuff.

If you want to retire, there's no shame in that. Writing should be a good hobby or pass time and should not be a self-inflicted punishment. While I respectfully disagree on your current views on most of the new stories on the site, I commend you for having tactful criticism on the matter, instead of some of the hollow cynicism that others are spewing out. Though you may retire your quill, I am certain that your writing will be missed.
As a Scribe, I commend your contribution to the creative arts.

I should do 70, so my last story isn't a clopfic and at the very least I won't get the jokes. But yeah, 69 is a good strong number.

I've pretty much stopped writing new and unfinished material myself since I have other things going on. I respect your decision my friend.
Well that kinda sucks but you must do what makes you happy. I hope that you can keep writing other fan fictions on other sites. I would love to see you branch out from MLP and see where things take you.
Well, so long friend and happy trails. You must do what you feel is right. Still, I believe you should write one more story to go out on - a swan song.

I actually have been thinking about branching out. Tried it once on DA with a Balto story, didn't get very far but who knows?
