"Hello, Master. It's been a while."
Okay, so yeah. This is the one we've been waiting for. The Siege of Mandalore: Part 1.
The first thing that caught me off guard was there was no opening Aesop, or 'a long time ago...' segment. No, we get a special version of the opening credits including the Lucasfilms logo. Then we get the narration, and oh dear god you know exactly what's coming. Ki-Adi Mundi, Plo Koon, Commander Bacara, Commander Bly, Aayla Secura, and their respective armies all appear and you know they're not coming back from their battlefields. This is the beginning of the end.
There's also a neat little cameo of Caleb Dume and his Master. Consider me on cloud nine. In any event, Ahsoka meets up with Anakin and the 501st and oooh, I feel all mushy and gooey inside. The 501st -including Rex- have even painted their helmets to look like Ahsoka's facial markings. There's a bit of back and forth between Bo-Katan and Obi-Wan, once again ideals clashing. Ahsoka even gets in a good dig about how the Jedi are still playing politics while the rest of the galaxy has lost faith in them, and for good reason. On the other hand, it's pointed out they can't just let Grevious -who by the way sports a cool new live-action style character model- invade Coruscant.
So yeah, the Siege. There's an awesome aerial battle that soon progresses to the docks. Frighteningly, the opening music is the same as Revenge of the Sith's and... yeah, you know Order 66 is just a few days away at best. On a side note, Gar Saxon, Rook Kast -both sporting nifty red armor with gold visors- and Ursa Wren all appear as well. Cameos are aplenty! Now, where's a young Din Djarin?
So yeah, heart-pumping episode, and really, there's only one way to say this.
I had a small freak out when I realized how far we are in the timeline now. Heh, But, yeah. We're in the final stretch now!
