Well, it would appear we got K-bombed. Oh well. I thought we were doing a fairly decent job, although there were certainly some flaws to our work. Still, it frustrates me to no extent that there are still some group out there that thrive off of making other people feel uncomfortable. Even after all the good we did, we're still called bullies, thugs and undesirables in general. Still, sometimes people need the harsh, direct criticism. I know we did some bad, and some members got overzealous, but I would have preferred an actual reason as opposed to Knighty's opinion. If he wants to baby authors on the website, that's fine by me.
We had a good run in the TWE. I made new mates, helped people out and generally built a reputation on the site. However, all good things must come to an end. I'll just remember how Knighty deleted the TWE on a whim while paedophilia, mindless clop and trollfics all receive positive reception. I'll continue writing my stories and offering general advice to people that ask for it, but I doubt I'll head back into the reviewing profession any time soon. If a blunt criticism is frowned upon, it's probably best if I stay away.
The other TWE members, moderators and administrators can hopefully make a new group to comment and help with stories, but my time's been served. I helped build the TWE's reputation for good or bad. I saw the purge and the floods of members. I saw intelligent debates and mindless insults. Hell, I even saw a debate about the existence of Twinkies.
Whatever the TWE Remnants decide to do, I support them all the way. But I'm dropping out of this business now. Time to focus on reading some of the Greats fimfiction has, rather than offering advice to those who couldn't care less.

Damn, the TWE was pretty much the only group I really cared about. The others are kind of pointless...regardless, I'll continue to watch you and read your fics and I'm sure all of your other fans will do the same

Life on the interwebz is strange to say the least. I suppose I'll just devote myself to offering advice among another group that I'm a part of "The Feature Box Crusaders" (Don't let the name fool you, for many the feature box is just a secondary goal, some of us would like to make the achievement with something more than just a quick one-shot clop or troll fictions.)
Out of curiosity, where do you get most of your avatars?
It was inevitable. Stinks that you're quitting the reviewing business, but it isn't my decision. Whatever. Maybe the group can start anew, maybe choose a less 'offensive' name or something.

This ain't gloating. To be honest, I think it is gay as fuck that someone went to the mods about this biz. I understand he was some sort of kid, but still ... gaaaaayyyyyyyyyy.
This is what happens when you shut down anyone who attempts to criticize you, or take a slow roll on large matters. You hugboxed, you suffered.
I'll miss the TWE. I think you served a valuable service and helped some people, and, when you weren't to busy hiding, you made some half-way decent opponents. At the very least, you had the numbers for a decent skirmish.

Sad to see TWE go... I was there from near the beginning, even though I was mostly just stalking and not really taking part in conversations or writing reviews.
It's just that the group had grown quite too big already, attracting all kinds of trolls and "reviewers" who wrote hateful comments under TWE's name. Despite the fact you tried to keep those under control, it apparently was not enough.
Nothing to do anymore about it though. Rest in peace, TWE.

561111 To be entirely honest, I'll miss our little skirmishes. We both had different aims and different goals, but the whole thing was kind of... fun. If only Knighty had used a rule breach or evidence of our wrongdoing, instead of deleting us because we're 'bullies'. There are plenty of other groups who are as 'insulting' as us, but Knighty singled us out in particular. If he'd had rules backing him, I'd be fine.
This is the big debate though. Without law and rules, how far can Knighty go? Deleting groups because he personally disagrees with them smacks of dictatorship and press censorship to me.

Well this is saddening, to say the least.
This group had a premise for assisting lost authors with proper reviews, but to see it go like a tumbleweed makes me feel exasperated. I recently joined the group because of what they were or attempting to do, i.e. provide accurate criticism and reviews. In the end, there may be a time and place for this trend to rise again. Ah Knighty, this may just an inherent problem for the website at this point. Criticism is part of writing, there are those who love it, there are those who hate it, but to outright prevent such a necessity could be considered blasphemous. From Knightly's blog it sounds like he pulled a draconian move, deleting the entire group without so much as a warning first and is now pruning all dissention from the comments
Some of the reasons he stated can't be helped. All reviews are going to have some negative criticisms in them, otherwise it wouldn't be a review, but mindless praise.
Saying that he will also delete other groups that try to form under the same idea speaks much of a heavy handed fear campaign, rather than an actual attempt to clean up what is wrong. He has allowed other groups like 'Pieces of shit' which is just as offensive to the authors featured on its threads to continue to exist. There are even several GAK groups when GAK stories are autobanned.
The TWE may have had some true trolls who used the tag only to spam, but there were plenty of people who only wanted to help out new authors who may have made a few minor mistakes. The moderators had done everything that could be done under the current safeguards to limit the use of TWE's name to only those who were approved. Deleting the group will not stop the trolls, but like always on DRM it will only punish those who followed the rules.

Oh yeah, reading the thread he set up related to this impromptu issue, he's mentioned his own reasons for doing so. It's more or less related to people abusing the TWE tag as a premise for posting an intolerable review. He goes on to elaborate upon how some oriented criticism wasn't necessarily constructive, but destructive to the author. I feel like this relates, not particularly to the group, but more so those who abuse the tag of it. He did mention it is fine to set up a group based solely around constructive criticism with the remnants of said group (comment 94 on the front page topic).
