Columbia Concept Prompt · 1:28pm Jan 19th, 2022
What if instead of Christopher Columbus discovering what is now America, he discovered pre-Gen 5 Equus?
It would be cool if someone made a more realistic map.
(Note: The land mass that we know as Australia still exists, but the name "Australia" went to a British colony on the southern tip of America in this map.)
The magic of the world in this time period is so weak that unicorns would have a hard time lifting a small stick, but still existent.
Pegasi can still fly, but can't move clouds.
Unlike in cannon pre-gen-5, all of the ponies don't blindly have the other races, although there still is a bit of racism. Unicorns are rare.
Humans treat ponies like animals. Also, this is pre-civil war, so the southern states in the United States still enslave Africans.
The whole "manifest destiny" thing might cause the United States to declare war on Zephyr, who is technologically superior to the United States, but doesn't really have an army.
Since the name Canada comes from native American language, the name here is Borealia. Seaquestria is in undisturbed isolation, nobody on land even knows it exists. The Spanish empire is trying to invade Las Pegasus. I wonder if that will go well? Those muskets can only shoot one shot before needing to reload. The Incan empire still exists, but Spain might have something to say about that. If you want to introduce locations into this, please make sure the name doesn't originate from any Native American language. For example: Montreal can exist, but Quebec can't. Another thing, I decided New York City should be New Liverpool instead for no reason. New Liverpool is built atop the ruins of Manehattan.
I might make a map of this world during the cold war era.
A few scenarios:
The Quest for freedom:
An Earth Pony is forced to pull a cart all day long at a cotton plantation. She hears about the dark-skinned humans trying to escape. Maybe she can take advantage and escape herself?
The Streets of Manehattan:
As the Italians, Irish, and African gangs fight in the streets unhindered, and secret pony societies try to free ponies from enslavement, a secret organization founded by christians attempts to take advantage to get power. Maybe the corrupt police force can get their act together already and stop these crime groups?
The Quest for Power:
A lone unicorn lives on the streets of Zephyr Heights. She asks herself why she was born with that useless stick on her head, just to be made fun of? She reads about unicorns of the past, and their power. Why can't she harness magic?
The Last Alicorn:
An alicorn lives in Crystal City. Shes starting to age now. Her faulty memory still remembers when her aunt was telling her of her adventures back when she was a filly. Where did everything go wrong?
To Manifest Destiny (This might not be cannon):
The queen of Zephyr almost has a heart attack when she finds out the United States started invading unannounced and unprovoked. Zephyr may have a technological communication advantage, but the closest thing they have to an army is a large royal guard. Can they raise an army in time, or will they fall?
://ff scenarios (These are set in alternate futures):
Destiny Manifested:
The United States successfully invaded all of southern Columbia. It seems like there is some civil unrest, and it seems like the power of magic is waxing again. Meanwhile, the southern states in the United States are getting angry at the northerners for trying to take their slaves away, and it seems like a 3 sided civil war is going to break out. Can the government ease tensions?
Red Scare:
After defeating Deutchland for the second time, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union got into quarrels over how the land should be divided. As the Soviet Union singlehandedly saved the United Kingdom and France, they decided they should decide on the new borders and governments. All of central Europe is looking red. (This happened because the United States never spread to the west coast in this timeline, and never invaded Hawaii, thus Japan never bombed the harbor, and the United States was never provoked to join the war. Most of Columbia besides Las Pegasus, the United States, and Borealia formed a federation.)
