Due mostly to spending two weeks with a persistent sinus infection, nothing got shipped in April. Tomorrow I'm taking a box of packages to the post office which includes four of the remaining international orders (two Canada, one UK, one Australia). I expect to make up a second such box for Wednesday.

So, as of March 1, the United States post office kindly provides a warning of how much VAT your recipient will have to pay for their package (if they're in the European Union / Common Market).

I found this out on March 2, when I took two international packages in as part of that post office run, and was told that the recipient in Sweden would have to pay $314, and the recipient in Austria a whopping $1400+ tax, for packages valued at $50 and $70 respectively.

I made several references in Maretian to the phenomenon of Not Invented Here, and KSP2 is full of that phenomenon.

The interface, especially the nav-ball, was changed to make it more pixelly and harder to read- MUCH harder to see the symbols on the ball clearly.

The maneuver interface is smaller, hard to read, and much less responsive.

SAS no longer has "hold radial/antiradial/normal/antinormal" options.

Since conventions resumed (and I had a stomach bug), shipping has slowed a bit. Roughly speaking we're at 70% shipped, not counting the handful of re-shipments I've been making to correct mistakes.

(As it happens I've caught one mistake before it went out- one of you ordered in the Kickstarter and then ordered TWICE through WLP Comics' online store, and I didn't catch it. So one lucky Canadian is going to get THREE copies of the hardcover...)

It just came to my attention that a couple of you have been trying to contact me via Kickstarter messages for weeks because your book vanished in transit, with only a torn envelope arriving at the destination. Others need last-minute changes of address.

The problem is, KICKSTARTER DOESN'T NOTIFY ME OF YOUR MESSAGES THERE. And nothing shows on the website that I have messages pending. Thus, I didn't know you were trying to contact me until today.

Yesterday I learned that a 9X12 envelope cannot hold a CSP book and T-shirt both (unless the shirt is size S, and then only barely).

I'll have to make a special trip into town to see what I can find, but given postal rates I might just end up using Priority Mail padded envelopes (assuming the rate is correct).

In the meantime, postponing shipment of pledges with shirts.

That's 18 boxes. Each one holds ten copies of the hardcover.

I'm hoping to get between 20 and 30 out each week.

Next time I'll at least price out the fulfillment services...

Just got word from my printers.

The paperback edition of CSP will ship to me on or about December 5.

The hardbacks... not until January 3.

Dammit.

... to printing, that is.

The final proofs have been approved.

Changeling Space Program will be printed this week, theoretically. And then, probably right after Thanksgiving, it will begin going out in the mail to those who ordered it.

Home from AWA with a non-COVID con crud. Arrived to find the proofs for the main book. (The finished mini-artbooks arrived Wednesday, just before I left.)

So, today is going to be spent in large part going through the proofs. I'll need a second set of proofs- the illustrations all printed out far too dark the first time around.

Oh- and chicken soup. A large part of today will be spent with chicken soup.
