Oneshot. Production time: Two and a half hours. Effective worktime: One or two half-hours less.
This is one of those stories. I was just creeping along, when my brain came up to my door and said, "Yo dawg, I've got this amazing idea right here. Do it."
And I was like, "But I wanna sleep!"
And he was like, "I know what you diddely-did six years ago. Want me to reheat those memories?"
And I was like, "Fine, I'll do it, nobody needs sleep anyhow."
Thus this was born. I suppose that, practically speaking, it is a sample. You know, aside from being perhaps the epitome of what bucketiness you'll ever see out of me. Now watch as this gets featured.
Still, it is... well, I guess it'd also serve as a school reading for kids in a rational country, that is to say, none ever. Maybe Canada. Canada's cool. Certainly not one whose very foundation hands out guns to every moron and whose citizens then scratch their head wondering why it is they have the most gun-related anything in everywhere.
But that's beside the point. Which is, in case you haven't noticed or read comments before the fic (Bad user! Bad!) somewhere along the lines of "It's okay to be gay." Because some people still have to be told that, as it seems. Not like those individuals who pursue their own gender (I'm trying to sound neutral here, if it sounds like anything else) had a choice, anyhow. Genetic predisposition and all that.
Funny thing is, if you think about it, that means that Aloe is most likely also homosexual. Isn't biology wonderful? Except that she could be anything since she and Lotus are about the most obvious dizygotic twins EVER. Think about it.
On that note, yes, Aloe is the pink-furred one, and I chose to make her the dominant one. I'll be honest, I also always feel like it should be the other way around. Why did I do it that way then? Another bash against gender roles, perhaps. Or maybe the title pun just wouldn't work otherwise. Which is funny if you think about it, because I have actually read most punworthy Shakespearian novels/plays/whatevers and love to laugh about people misusing those.
On that note, if you are like me, or maybe exactly NOT like me... anyhow, maybe you could not stop thinking about another fic, where Aloe ends up being pregnant and Lotus takes the main lead. Not that that'd stay like that for long, of course, what with... anyhow, that's neither here nor there. Well, technically, it IS here, on this site, but it is also beside the point, nor is it anything one would want his own mother to read about.
What was I going on about? Oh yes. Beside all the fluff and I teaching lessons to people who are forty years older than I, it is a sample. Distilled extract of what Lotus and Aloe are for me, preserved briefly to perhaps be used later on. I heard that the spa is commonly used by, ironically, lovesick ponies, especially such searching for the right way to propose to their loved one.
Some people like to give them French or German accents, I know. I would probably be among the best to write those, but you know what? Those sorts of accents are fucking obnoxious to read, much more so to write. So screw that, said I, and instead gave them British-touched formal language. Maybe they stem from Canterlot, who knows.

Maybe I'm just grumpy because, good as I am at every English related thing ever, I really can't speak with accents. That drives me crazy.
I noticed, there are not all too many ways to bring German expressions into English so that it sounds off. Maybe I can just transfer grammar rules from one language, that could work. Anyway, what does that tell us? Yaaay, English and German (and many other Latin-based languages, for that matter) are the exact same! (Except for Italian, funnily enough.)
Not to mention, of course, that I know about enough French to comprehend it. Bollocks will I then use a character whose main language that is.
Then again, I tried doing the same with Polish characters, and I have literally no idea of that... thing whatsoever. Good thing that his story shall never be continued.
Aah, enough oneshotting, and back to the novel which takes much more effort for the exact same reward.
